Default Regular LED strips on 1s

I just saw a video of hooking up the LED strips intended for 12v to 1s. He just cut right in between teh led and the resistor in front of it. But then he added a 10ohm resistor. Is this the case? I can really do this?

A 10 ohm resistor would work fine for a single blue, UV or purple led.

In general you would want a 27 to 56 ohm 1/4 watt resistor for each green or white led, the lower the number the brighter the led. And for yellow, orange or red leds its usually a 91 ohm or thereabouts 1/4 watt resistor.

These figures are for the usual 1210 (or 3528) size or smaller led with a forward current of 20ma.
