Mine came in at 312g, and I need to clean up the wires yet.

I only have about 6 flights on it so far but I'm pretty happy with how it's flying, I think it can be better with some more fine tuning.

341 grams with iKon. I do sports/scale flying, so a few grams more is not a worry for me at all.

I'm happy for the moment, mine is at 308g so far.... the weight loss program has been working well the last few weeks. And with a 16t pinion it flies like a monster.

It looks pretty much bone stock, but there are a few little tweaks to get the weight down:

• Trex 250SE frame, with belted tail
• DFC head and Spartan VX1e FBL unit and Spektrum DSM2 satellite
• Turnigy Nano-tech 850mAh 3S pack, EC2 plug
• CC Talon 15 ESC, with shortened wires and soldered motor
• 16t pinion - 4500 RPM - WOOOO
• Align metal main shaft bearing blocks
• HELM JOINT chinese weights with Align plastic tail blades
• Stock Align DS410 cyclic servos
• Logitech LTS-3100G tail servo + boom mount
• Hobbyking KH-250 skids + baseplate
• Align carbon tail boom
• Custom carbon tube turnbuckle for tail

My favourite bit is that I've still got two major pieces of weight saving still to go. I'm using the heavy fibreglass canopy, and heavy servos. There's plenty of room to get under 300g here, but I'm holding out for some Lynx servos.

If they do manage to bring out lightweight servos and canopy I think 275g might just about be possible.... o_0

Just keep in mind you still need to balance the hell. I am just making balance now. I can't go to a lighter canopy and keep the light pack and still balance pretty close as it does now.

But the bird is flying pretty nice as is. Before the weight reduction (old fb with Phoenix 25ESC, Quark gyro, with stock Align DS410 and 420 servos, with a Rhino 750 pack (rest same) it was at 350g. So about a 60g reduction, or ~17% weight reduction.

Tail is much better now with the DS76T over the DS420. I assume the Spartan Quark Gyro and the Spartan Vortex fbl are equivalent when comparing the tail response.

I made a mistake on the polling, didn't read the instructions first. Mine weighs 311 g without the battery, I thought I was doing great, until I realized it's supposed to be with the battery. With a Pulse 850 I am at 376. Mine has a Bavarian Demon FLB, MKS servos and Talon 15 ESC.

Mine is 334 gram with a 6S 370mah.

I forgot to take the weight out of my Robird G31 before sticking it down. I noticed tonight that it is tail heavy by about 10mm. When I move everything forward a bit, I may remove it then.

First flight with its new motor tomorrow! (Scorpion 2206 1900kv rewind). If the motor/heli survives, then I might think about replacing the servos as I have hxt900's and a corona 919 at the moment (with slightly too short leads). So hopefully there is a few more grams to save.

Are there any conversion kits to put the tail servo underneath? Is it worth doing? It started out as a HK 250 kit. Now it has bits of Align and Copter X in it. I am starting to like this bird more and more.

Weighed mine again after installing the Hughes 500E fuselage by Align, which I did about 6 mo. ago. Total flying weight = 584.8 grams or 1.28 lbs. One thing I did for more power, alot more power actually was change the stock esc to an Eflite 25amp and stock motor to an Eflite 320h, both of which came out of my 300x which was changed to a 35 amp esc and Lynx motor. The 320 fit nicely on the stock motor mount and only needed two spacers, one on either side, between the motor and mount to line up the pinion to the main gear. Definitely made a big difference dealing with the extra weight of the scale fuselage. Oh, and I just had to reverse the motor since the t-rex has the motor pinion facing up, while Blade helis have the motor oriented down.

With a zippy compact 25C pack I'm at 289g flying weight :-D I'm usually 10g heavier than that though, my normal weight is around 299g.

Still using the stock Align cyclic servos, might have to replace those one day, there's potential to drop this under 275g if I did

All up weight comes in at 291g. I'd like it to be a little lighter, but I'm okay with this, because now I know I won't strip servo gears in a minor crash like I did with the DS76's.

Putting mine on a major diet. I've come to realize disk loading is crap on this heli, built like a 450, but with blades much shorter. If all goes well I might get mine down to 326g AUW. Smaller lighter servos, plastic canopy. Found the AR7200BX I'm using carries 10g in the chassis. Going to figure a way to run without it mounting only the circuit board. That's with a larger motor too, Turnigy 2632 rewound to 4000Kv running 8:1 and 4500 rpm head speed governed. The motor adds 10g, but I want that motor.

I'm just finishing my build up now and I'm coming in at 281g with the canopy and battery. Hopefully I will get to do the maiden this weekend.

The heli is an se with belted tail and dfc head. I am running the elite ds76 servos on it, talon esc, decased kbar with a dcased sat soldered right to the board.

I'm going to fly it like this for a bit and see if I like it. If I want to go lighter I can switch up canopies, trim servo wires, carbon boom and maybe a different motor, lynx 180 servos and a few other measures to get under 150 if I really fell like pushing it.

I can't wait to fly this weekend if the weather cooperates for me. I think it's going to rip.

Yeah a couple easy ways to shed a lot of weight, plastic canopy and lighter servos. I've got a set of Lynx 180 servos coming. That's a huge weight savings going from servos that weigh 15g each to 6g each. The specs on those show 2/3 the stall torque of the stock servos. Since the stock servos on the 250 are also used on the 450 at pretty much twice the rotor size the lighter servos should work. Hoping all goes well with it.

I was actually thinking about the KST DS245S servos which are also a lot lighter and they have a higher stall torque. Problem with those is there are simply no spare gear sets available. The Lynx 180 servos come with servo saver horns and gear sets are readily available if that doesn't work. The Lynx servos are three grams lighter than the KST servos, but the KST servos have a lot more torque. Better to have too much than not enough.

I was thinking about the belted tail. I understand it's lighter, but I don't know by how much. Mine's torque tube. If there's some good weight savings might be worth it to go with the belt.

I was wondering if the lynx 180 servos would fit the 250, I was under the impression that they wouldn't. If there the same as the ds76's but with the different connectors then maybe the lynx servos with a gy280rx would be a sweet combo without having to change connectors or deal with a sat for the spektrum guys.

I have thought about getting mine closer to 225g mark. I was thinking of using that same setup as above with the addition of the lynx 180 motor and dropping to 500 mah 3s batteries as well as shortening the boom and main blades down a bit to get more of a 200 size machine going on.

The motor would drop 10g and the battery another 20g, plastic canopy another 8g.

I think I could get sub 225 range if I really get creative with it, but I'm thinking this setup is going to be nice at the weight it is tuned in. I may end up trying the lynx servos though mainly for the weight and metal gear combo savings.

Still hoping oxy2 fills that 200 size want for me, but I may end up building one up.

180 servos are way small. You'd need some serious size adapters and I'm not sure the arms would line up well. You'd have to get the Lynx ones as the Spektrum ones have way too little torque to be useful IMO.

Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking as far as the servos go. Especially going through all the work that would be required, the lynx ones would be the ticket for the win.

I think I will have a winner as far as it goes regarding the 250 any way. There are a few refinements to it that I will be going through once it's flying good and getting it the way I want it. The biggest area for improvement right now is the servos, but I think they will be good for what I have going on.

Right now I'm wanting the carbon boom, Chinese weights, double bearing mod, maybe some zeals and to do some refit and repair on the canopies I already have for it.

If I do go crazy on a build it will probably be a frame similar to the one like fabians with the lynx servos, but I doubt I'm going to mess with it. I just can't wait for oxy.
