My worst one was $125. Then another $10 with a mishap bench test.

To be totally honest... I don't like to keep track...the amount I have spent on this hobby in the last year (my first year being in the hobby) has got to be scary!

in my 4 crashes so far, I spent somewhere between 30 and 80 Bucks each.
But also for me - this is something I don't really like to think about, since I spent way to much money this year on the hobby.
Started off with a Scout CX in april and now bought my 10th helicopter which is a 550 size.

My 1 and only mishap so far has cost me around £50

Main Shaft
Feathering Shaft
Canopy
Blades
Boom
Main Grip
Servo linkage

Since then ive spent at least as much upgrading fixing or preventing lol.... of which i find a MUST...

Chassis Braces
CF main Blades
Goo to strengthen canopy
PU gel AR7200BX
Nylon zip tie Landing gear to Main Frame
Balanced motor "Wicked" (or possible loctite mod on stocker)
Now i just need to worry about them pesky servos...

So i guess to answer your question on my first Crash i probably spent over £100

I'll fess up to having a few.

2 where the heli basically exploded on impact.

1 x $130
1 x $70

a few in the $15 - $25 range.

Damn that's cheap.... my 130x costs me more (over time).... seriously... but I do fling it about with reckless abandon :-)

Ha ha yes I was with my brother in law flying when I put the 300x in and I said to him you just have to wear the repair bill because it comes with the hobby......

I've crashed MANY times (as I don't like Sims)...At one point or another, I have broken/lost pretty much everything except the swash, beastx, and motor.

I have to say the avg cost for me has been $20-25. Crash damage has been as small as a blade grip or main blade or main gear...and as big as replacing about 80% of the heli not including electronics.

I honestly spend almost as much on a good crash on my BL Mcpx.

How can you tell if your main shaft bearings are damaged?

I normally do them depending on the way it goes in when it crashes but for what they are worth and the extent of the repair I just did them for peace of mind.....kept the old ones for spares.....

Went flying for lunch today at a new field. Just had my third crash with this thing, to low and sideways coming out of an inverted hover . I think this will be the least expensive crash I will ever have, except for the time I forgot to switch to IU and it fell out of the air upside down = $0.

Stripped gears in all three cyclic servos are the only thing I can find, even the woodies are hardly scuffed. Hopefully $9 tops for 3 gears sets.

I feel much less guilty now about buying 3 helis and a dx8 in a 3 week time span, thanks still lurking the 300x forum after buying the 450x, really don't know how much longer I can talk myself out of it

Its currently undergoing a ground up rebuild. Hitecs 5065's & 5084/ Scorpion 2213-14 and Ice 50 ESC plus all the shinny bits

Well, first crash yesterday, hit throttle cut well before it landed sideways in the grass. Rotor wasnt spinning, which minimized damage. Tally so far was one main blade, one main grip, feathering shaft. Spun it up yesterday with no mains on, no vibes thus far.

I noticed that I have a few chewed teeth on main gear as well, this is next.

All of it was noob to larger heli user error (lost orientation, over correction).

All in all not bad. I had bought a large lot of parts on the for sale forum, covert it completely.

Default Following in your footsteps-first bad crash

Was flying today and also lost orientation in low light conditions. Main shaft cracked in half and broke main frame in half above the main gear. This will obviously require a complete tear down and rebuild. On one hand I feel lucky as it seems the only parts I have to replace will be the mainframe and main shaft...perhaps also spindle and blades. Total bill will run about $40...

Never have worked on a bigger heli (only repaired mcpx and 130) so am a little intimidated on what lies ahead to rebuild this heli....any pointers and tips welcomed!!

check out the repair vids from Blade, they helped me immensely (I also had a full spare airframe for reference). Make sure you have no vibes afterward, hunt them down and correct them.

When I repaired mine the other day (first time as well), I had vibration problems that weren't apparent with blades off and spinning up on the ground. Drove me nuts till I figured out the problem, and then I went

Turns out, I had forgotten a screw on the landing gear during reassembly. Vibes caused bad tail wag after the heli lifted off and the lg could rattle (Beastx was trying to compensate, hence the wag). So, watch the small stuff for sure
