Good to see you back, was wondering where you were.

Asked a question a little while back and would like to hear your opinion.

My 550 3G is flying great right now, no tail wag any more, thank you all. However, even with the swash perfectly level during set up in all pitches, when I am flying I need to give it constant left and forward cyclic adjustments. Is this drift? Do I need to increase the gains?

Double check swash initulized and the helli setup level using the cable tie method, I had a sensor set not quite level and it tilted the swash. Hows it mounted?
Also make sure the sensor is pointing perfectly straight.
Hange by main blades at 90deg. to boom and double check COG, most people just pick it up by the stopper and look for the skids to lift even.

Sensor is mounted with Align or Futaba sensor tape on the bottom plate, COG is a little nose heavy but within allowed parameters.

Nose heavy, how'd you do that? Checked hanging?
I had to put 1oz of sticky weights under the battery tray to get my COG close and still got some tail.
How about the swash with the helli leveled and powered up. Actually put a level on the bottom plate and accross the frame, level it and check the swash

Running Hyperion 35C 5000mAh packs, even with stuffing them as far to the back as it can go it's still nose heavy. I'll have to put a level on the bottom plate and check it tomorrow.

OK......bit o info from ya......... Have ya tried the 3m or loctite version of the CLEAR doublestick stuff we use? Its really good for a rigid mount yet still absorbs and dissipates vibration.

Another question........Are we talking drift? or are ya trying to get it to stay in 1 Place?
Theres a BIG difference between FBL and stabilization systems....

Last.... how about a pic? Gimme the sensor mount with surounding wiring....thatll be good enough to make some suggestions for ya. Even a small PHONE shot would work. Just gotta see what Im working with. (Ive personally helped about 2-3 dozen people using this little trick. Gives me a basis to give suggestions by. )

Haven't tried any other double stick tape, is the 3M stuff the 4010? Will try to get you a pic after work tonight. Don't know if it is drift, I just have to constantly give it left and forward corrections, in hover and forward flight. Could understand if it was corrections in all directions but its always left and forward. That is what I am trying to figure out, is this normal or is it drift?

Question Wag the heli, wag boy!

JondaBear,
We have never responded but I have gotten my bachelors degree in 3G from you and others, thank you!

I have had my maiden... All went swell except a VIOLENT tail wag. So, I did two things:
(550 fbl 3G)

1) set it for a smaller heli (red led)
2) lowered the response rate via 3G panel

Results: MUCH better! BUT I still have a small wag about 1 degree in either direction at hover (no noticeable drift)...so I tried:

1) tx gain settings... No help or even any pos or neg change (?weird)
2) threw it out the window into traffic (the tail doesn't wag anymore ) that's a joke

I have my sensor mounted on the bottom Trey below the boom with Spartan thick take/ metal plate/ Spartan thin tape/ sensor. Stap tightened. I have not done any sensor mods (mainly because the ele/ail works great in hover and FF.

Thoughts/critiques are more then appreciated!!!!
Walt

To all: I opened my sensor (2.1 shipped) and it had silicone in it! You guys might already know this but to the guys that figured this out; align owes you a thank you for solving THEIR problems... Amazing! -1 align in my book, and it's getting thick.

NO, rudder lock is the third setting down in the 3G interface, there's aile, elev roll lock and rudder lock. Lower it
