Excellent read guys, good job with the research and testing!

Just to confirm, I am OK with the setup below, using an RX pack and AR7200BX?

Savox 2271 & 2272 into the AR7200BX. 2S LiPo 1800mAh 65C directly into the AR7200BX through two open ports.

It sounds like using the RX pack is safe, I could add a DC-UP there if necessary. I guess my concern is with the power bus through the AR7200BX, is it adequate to support the servos, or should I add something like the Skookum power bus?

Good to go. The issue isn't passing the current through the wires, the issue is that the regulator can't handle the amp spikes, the DC-UP fixes that.

In your case, you are using a real battery, so no regulator or DC-UP is required.

I had a similar problem with Savox 2274 at 350oz torque. At fast inputs it would studder as they were drawing too much. I put a multimeter through a tm1000 on my setup just to check and the servos would drop to 4.8-5.0v. To fix it I switched to the SG Reactor HVX which regulates a 3s down and with it I have not had an issue. The 3s really leaves a lot of possible backup power to your servos plus 25amps. It is a little expensive though:

Default Servos for X7

Help.
I can not select for servo Gaui X7.
Savox SB-2271SG (Swashplate) + SB-2272MG (Tail Rotor) ? --- Now cheap and selling.
New Savox - 2284SG + Savox - 2283MG ? ---- New-w-w!
Futaba BLS275SV + BLS276SV ? --- Big price but Futaba!
Servo Savox declared as a fast and strong. But is it really?
Perhaps someone used them and knows the difference?
Who knows the + and - these servos.

Sorry for my english,
Sergey.

I have used 2271sg's for around a year on a BEC (gryphon) on my E720 without any issues.
Have not bench tested like the video but no problems in flight.
Ran them on 8.4v.

I run the 2271s and 2272s and have not had any issues with them at all. I run mostly a 2S lipo but have a set on the BEC in a Talon 90 and they've been just fine. Strong, fast and tough.

I use the 2274's on cyclic on my x7 and they are amazing. I have Scott grays hvx for a reg though so it's 3s and 25A. Probably not the best comparison since most run 2s but I thought I'd post anyway

Does anyone know if this is a production issue with the servos or the actual design? If this is a production issue then has it been fixed?

Also, can WR BEC handle these at 8.2V?

I would expect that unit to do fine from my experiences with these servos. I've run them hard on the Jeti Mezon 130hv's internal BEC without issue. I did back it off from 8v to just ~7.5v after a while though for peace of mind.

Default Savox SB-2271SG let smoke out

I've got a set of Savox SB-2271SG cyclic servos on my Goblin 700 Gasser. Hooked up RX pack today and the iKon initialized all servos just fine. Started the engine and one of the servo arms shot straight up vertical then the back/bottom plastic servo plate quickly developed a smoking hole through molten plastic about the size of a pen hole. Servo arm is locked straight up now. .
Will try to post pictures later. Don't know/understand what caused it since the iKon and servos are powered through RX pack and all else was just fine and all other servos continue to operate normally. Believe I will replace with MKS HBL380's. I've had good luck with all my other MKS'.

Sounds like either manufacturing defect in the servo or just dumb bad luck to me.

I put my 2271SG servos in my E-revo after they caused two separate crashes on my X7 years ago, I thought I had them working, but after a bunch of good flights, they decided to brown out my system, Flew with BEC, then RX pack / capacitors. Darn servos have too high of a amp spike when in use.. Maybe some guys can get them to work(or have gotten lucky), but I had nothing but trouble with those savox servos. I run BK 7002's on cyclic and 7006 on tail now and no issues at all with Castle BEC pro (bec powered by one of the 6S flight packs) set to 7.5v.
