I have set one of my SE's up for night flying and went for my first night flight. Let me just say that i had so much fun (maybe due to not flying for over a week) that i will keep this trex setup for night flying, also i started to use my Z-power 450 on a 15t and it rocks.....

In fact I think it is easier to see a night heli than a heli during the day!

I myself have a lot of fun night flying and am building a rex JUST for that purpose!

i love it so thats why i will keep this rex just for night flying.

I'm doing the same. My night bird seems much less nimble with all that extra stuff on it. Do you get this?

I'm doing the same. My night bird seems much less nimble with all that extra stuff on it. Do you get this?

My NightRex is good but i am running 11/-11, 8 deg of cyclic and 3300 headspeed. :mrgreen:

My night Rex is fast, but I'm too scared to do anything other than some circuits with it.

I saw night blades for £20, though so that might change.

I agree with you Finkles , I find the heli easier to see at night than in the day .

I dont have to worry about flying in front of low contrast backgrounds that make the heli dissappear or har dto see . With the lights on I always kow the orientation , no glare no nothing

Bob, I did not see any instructions with the align light cord driver specifying the proper input voltage. I'm flying it on a separate 3s 480mAh pack but I have heard that using 3s may cause it to fail prematurely. It seems to work fine on 2s also, but it's definitely brighter on 3s...

$.01 for your thoughts on this?

Oh I'm digging the night flying now too; I've got about 8 flights on it now and it's totally cool. I did some stall turns and seeing the glowing tail spin around was sweet

but a little sketchy, too.

Question on the cold light string, I have seen it a few times on the web sites and thought it would be cool, but I am not sure on how to power it? You need to run it with a whole new battery?? I have a 2s lipo from my old blade cx, would that work??

Heres the driver, see link below. it's powered by a lipo. Found the info, 5-8 VDC input power. so a 2S lipo is correct. Damn, I liked the higher brightness of the 3s pack too...

There may be other drivers too, not sure. It looks very cool though, just like in realflight v3.5.

I would be neat to see one with the stuff setup on it.

Don't go out of your way... but if you have some... it would be Cool to see your setups.

I did have my Rex XL setup for night flying, but I took off the lights to make it my pavement flyer. My Blade is still set up for night flying though. I am using the Align driver for the light powered off my Li-Po's blanace plug. It runs on 11.1 volts, I know its more than the recommended voltage, but I haven't had any problems yet.
