Default Buying a x5 fes in 2-3 weeks what else will i need?

So ive been setting aside cash for a x5 FES super combo and in the next 2-3 weeks I will have enough to purchase it. Now besides the batterys are there any little things I should look into? I notice some change dampeners and then will the newest kit have these frame stiffeners or battery fences? I have plenty of tools, Just trying to gauge what else ill be buying for this thing. Thanks!

i have a 306b with 47A 48v power supply so im good there... lol and yes im a auto tech and i hate side work but this weekend i have sat and sunday all booked up with work, hell i may even have the cash this weekend. I met jc zankle in front of my neighbors house a couple weeks ago and he put on a little show for me and let me fly the x5. Ive been wanting one ever since.... Made my 450x feel heavy. And that has a 525W motor turning 3400 head speeds.
I cant wait!!! im going crazy. I may just sell my 450x. I feel I wont get much flight time with it once i get the x5 but I will miss doing simple flying in front of my house. Its nice to just walk out side and spool up when im doing things like dialing it in. x5 will just be to big to fly out front.

Batteries and receiver and you're done. Oh, yeah, the frame stiffener and battery fence are worth considering. The stock setup works very well. I could never imagine wanting to change anything.

here is a list of upgraded parts i recommend, mainly just a bunch of little stuff that i think you should get..

better landing skids unless yours comes with the new stronger ones. the black ones break easy, if you get align skids remember to get skid pipes too..

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
longer blade grip bolts so the threads are not rubbing in the blade grip hole..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
turnbuckles so you can dial in blade tracking to a T, there is a tool to adjust these but i did not put a link
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
frame stiffener and battery fence, save your batter and motor in a crash
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
kbdd tail blades, the stock ones are lousy
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
kbdd dampers, lime green
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
swash leveling tool
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
these quick UK magnetic canopy mounts are nice but not needed, i want to get some some day
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
if you dont like silver boom braces you can get align boom braces for the 550 or 600
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the slant gear and pinion would be nice to have and will make the X5 really quiet, when i get some more extra money i think i am going to get those.

Awesome that's exactly what i was looking for! I would rather install all that stuff first time around. Whats the deal with the newer and older kits? IS there anyway to tell? As fast as this thing sells out wouldn't any one I find for sale online be new? I want to buy local but tax is a biotch.

After the last unavailability of the FES combo kit, you can be pretty sure that no retailer in the US or abroad had ANY old stock left, we all searched high and low trying to find them. Heck you can just about walk over to Empire and pick one up.

Yeah getting a old kit is extremely unlikely.

My LHS has 3 on the selves and if they could get me out the door for 950 I may buy from them, thats why I was wondering about if you can tell which is an old kit...

The one thing I know to check is the swashplate. I bought mine used, and got the older version- it's all black and very flat. Kind of funny looking. The newer one has a grey/silver center section.

the new kit has the black white and red 520mm blades

the old kit had red and white 500 mm blades

as mentioned the swash plate too

the new kits have a 15T pinion the old ones had a 16T

i got a new kit, the problem is the box said it came with the stuff the old kits came with unless they have recently updated the box it would be hard to tell unless you opened it.

I also bought the beastx USB adapter to flash the MB. And some servo wire mesh to protect wires, although I did sand the frame edges with 600 grit and seal them with CA.

Finally, I ran down to the hardware store and bought a M3x10 to pin the boom through the boom bracket.

I may put my 7200bx on instead of the regular micro beast. Clean it up a little bit. IDK if ill run a satillite with it. You think ill need one? It seems like it would be covered up pretty good so I might run one. Plus with it being bigger. I already have my wire loom! lol

Care to explain the M3x10 to pin the boom? A buddy i have that flys align, says he hated the tail setup. That have something to do with it?

The old swash had a tendency to get sloppy and notchy fast. Just check it. If it isn't sloppy or notchy, fly it. Mine still has the old swash, and holding up strong. I have a new one on the shelf ready when it starts wearing out.

The new swash also has better geometry for the FBL unit.

Default pin boom

You can replace one of the flat head m3x6 screws with a m3x10 screw and go right through the rear boom clamp into the boom to pin it so it doesn't fall out. It was in the build video on Anything Heli.com. Finless mentioned this in some of his build videos having had his boom slip out previously. Nothing to do with the tail setup.

the boom clamps are insanely tight on the X5 even after you have loosended them a bit its can be hard to get the boom out unless you loosen the crap out of them.

i don't see the boom slipping out on a plastic boom block its a very good idea to pin the boom, but these metal boom block clamps i don't see the boom going anywhere. still not a bad idea though.. if i had a screw that fit i would pin mine but i dont and i am not really worried about it. but it definitely cant hurt as long as your screw is not to long.
