Default An idea for using the accelerometer

I just got an idea on what I'd like to use the accelerometer for when I get the DS-16. When I'm flying FPV, it would be useful to wiggle the radio and have certain values of interest like distance and height being read out using the voice function (if the model has a GPS sensor).

Is that possible with the current firmware?

Yes. You can assign an accelerometer as a switch or stick or slide or knob. Then all you do is set up a read out of the data you want when you do something. You can set it up so you get say time left when you tilt radio forward, altitude when you tilt back, speed when you tilt right, battery cell voltage when you tilt left.

All available now in current firmware. There is a video on a post here that shows a dji quad flown using just the accelerometers.

Cool! Thinking about it, this is useful for getting the remaining battery capacity on helis as well. No need to look on the display anymore!

That's true, but you can also program the radio to report when you hit a particular setting. I am setting mine up to report when i have consumed 4,000 mah of a 5,100 pack.

The timer works on voice when it reports each minute from 5 mins down then at 1 minute it reports in 10 second blocks then count down from 10 seconds to zero.

I also set up a warning on my flight pack to report when my voltage drops to 6.89 volts. This reading is native on all receivers.
