Default Alarms what to do with them ?

Ok with the Mezon I can set alarms for a lot of things some I can see what to do with others what do you think:

Capacity
U BEC
I BEC
U Battery
I Battery
Revolution
Temp.
PWM

Capacity is easy I actually have 2 alarms. One for max mAh when I should think of landing, one for when I should land if I don't want to discharge my LIPO lower than 20%

U Battery to see if I loose LIPO cells

Temp. an obvious one too set at 150 degrees as per Danny

I BEC
U BEC
I Battery
revolution
What can i use them for as useful alarms ?
and the most unknown PWM

The rest can be handy on the logs when trouble shooting and that is about it. I think U batteries is the flight pack U BEC is the BEC voltage I think.

One suggestion... I have a BEC amperage alarm set. After flying several flights and keeping a log of the peak BEC current recorded in the min/max log of the Mezon I set an alarm about 2A above the highest peak that the Mezon recorded.

If that high BEC amperage alarm happens to trigger in flight it could be a sign a servo is starting to have problems and drawing excessive amperage, a linkage is binding requiring additional servo force, etc. It might not work that way and may never trigger in "real life" but it's still a nice to have alarm IMO. It isn't obtrusive and might help you spot a problem before it downs the heli so why not enable it?

Technically not an alarm, but a voice on event...

I put a tiny pop sfx whenever the throttle stick passes through the centre position...

Because the sound is a pop, you can actually feel it subtly in your hands.

Some people make little physical indentations on the actual gimbal rotating thingy inside the radio - I did it electronically.

Would've liked to have another tiny sfx where I have -5 degrees of pitch (great for autorotations) but I don't think that is possible...

Great idea. The -5 degree is intriguing and needs to be solved. One thing to do tonight.

Interesting idea. I've noticed that on my TDR I haven't quite adjusted to the ergonomics where I can consistently find zero pitch on rolling tail slides. That might be just the ticket. Where did you get the .WAV file for the "pop"?

Can you set a logical switch for the left stick ">X" and "<Y"? By defining a tight range of X and Y, it seems you could set it to trigger at the stick position that you want.

I'd like to see alarms by flight mode at some point. I think there would be some value added for doing autos. It would be obnoxious to set a repeating alarm for a high and low head speed, but if this could one day be activated when hold was on you could set a head speed range (high alarm, low alarm) to try to keep the model in.

Post here if you manage... I'm too tired to try before tomorrow...

In 'sounds on event'

Add 2 events.

Assign to P4 - One with the stick up, and the other withe the stick down.

You can add the same sound or different sounds.

I'll modify the sound slightly to be just a little bit different when I travel from negative to positive, and when I travel from positive to negative.

I've got a library of SFX from my real job, but I used the system sound 'pop' from my mac...

You can find very good free sfx online. Try http://soundbible.com

Thanks, but I was thinking about this some more and it dawned on me that the main rotor would be freewheeling so you would have to use a mag pick up or this

So not as simple as my initial thought.

Well, it seems i've reached the limit of the DS-16 as far as sounds on events are concerned...

You can have up to twenty of them, and I've used them up...

This is a better solution than my original method.

This way, you only use one sound on event instead of two.

Just tried it and it works!

EDIT: You do have to set the range somewhat wide though... -20 to +20, and even then, sometimes a very quick stick movement would be too quick for the radio to register as having passed from off to on and back to off again.

Twenty per model, per event, per transmitter?

I didn't know that logical switches could be set up by stick percentage, but that's pretty cool!

Yes it is, as the sound per event is a per model function and not a system wide function
