Even with taking your time the build goes quick. The tail box for me was the most tedious part of the build.
With the Glacier packs I had to shim the frame out some. That is with the 45c packs.

Congrats on the 480. Mine is my favorite. I like it so much I'm replacing my 6hvu with a 600sx.

Default New logo

I love my 480.

If no one has mentioned it, the plastic end links for the carbon boom supports are the same as the ones from the 500/550/600 boom supports but the carbon support rods are smaller diameter, so the ends don't fit snug. Mikado folks told me to just goop the gap full with glue, but i wasn't satisfied with that. I ended up using cut down 550 struts so they would fit snug in the ends. I don't trust the glue to fill the gaps and adhere the pieces together at the same time.

The weight increase was not noticeable and it balances just fine. If you're comfortable with loose fitting ends, go ahead, but I've seen a few come loose even when they do fit right and are roughed up beforehand. JB Weld works better but I still don't like using it to bridge a gap on a heli that is supposed to be of high quality and engineered to tight specs like a Logo. The thicker supports look fine to me.

Otherwise a sweet, quick building kit, and flies fantastic:-)

My boom supports were tight. I ended up having to get a second set because I used ca and they were so tight that the ca set before I could press them all the way in. I had to buy new boom supports and epoxy to glue them.

Nice. I wonder if the ends were smaller, or the rods were bigger. When did you purchase your kit? I bought mine at IRCHA. I wonder if they fixed it in the more recent kits. All the 480's on display there had the same issue of loose ends with glue gooping the gap shut. One had threaded rods and smaller end links screwed on as the builder must not have liked the loose fit either, lol. I'm glad it sounds like they fixed it

Can I use jb weld on the boom supports instead of epoxy? Does anybody have any other batteries that they would recommend? The glaciers are out of stock.

Jb weld is what I recommend. I've seen epoxy pull out even if it is roughed up first. It takes overnight to cure but I've not had it pull out ever and all I do is rough up the rod ends and inside the link with sandpaper and then clean it with a cotton swab and alcohol and dry with a clean swab. Jb weld it and ur good to go.

Pulse 3700's work great for me. Just put them in so that the aluminum plates are on top and bottom so if you crash, the pinion won't rip a hole In your pack. I learned that the hard way and even had the pack double strapped:-(. Lost a pack with only about 10 cycles on it:-/. Just glad it did to burn my heli down!

If you haven't ordered yet the gens ace 3700 mA 35C work perfect for this helicopter and get over five minute flight times. They also go very nicely in a 600 SX together and get it over five minute flight times as well.
