How important is this? Is the dial indicating a must or is it more of just a fine tuning thing? Will i get away with just installing it by hand to start off with or do i need to go buy an indicator the same time as my first nitro heli?

Cheers Lee.

Sometimes you can and sometime you have o dial indicate. I tell people that do not have a dial indicator to put it together. If there is a vibe problem then they will have do the deed.

Nice work pine. I'm new to nitro so bear with me here. Are you drilling the divots on the part of the clutch that makes contact with the clutch liner ? Isn't that a bad idea, i would assume you want as much contact as possible as well as the possibly wearing out the liner quicker.

No, the clutch was not installed. So the dimples are drilled on the side of the fan hub. The clutch bolts to the top of the hub. So no change to friction area.

Is it worthwhile to balance the unit w/ the clutch installed as well? Or is it good enough to balance just the fan and hub. On my 600N, I won't be able to reach the crankshaft nut w/ the clutch in place.

IMO there's not much/any point balancing a clutch statically cos it wont be the same when its running as the shoes move out and engage

I did anyway on my 600N. Just make sure you mark the orientations of all the parts with a Sharpie so that you can put them back together on the crankshaft the same way.

Yes a video of mixture setup would be great ie
If your idle jet is too rich it will do this and sound like this...
If its too lean it will do this and sound like this...

I know I could mess with it to hear for myself but as a relative beginner I'm nervous about causing it to die at low altitude so little time to rescue it.
I've got mine nearer now but still struggles between idle and midstick till rotor is up to speed.

The problem with too lean, it can damage the engine. So you supply the engine, I can run it too lean.

I am working on the fueling/starting/shutdown/end of day operations videos.

Tuning may come later.

I just uploaded to Finless, the first two videos of baisc nitro. He should have them u pthis weekend.

Due to some technical glitches with the filming, only Fuel Systems and After Flying are done.

And work has caught up with me, so I will be traveling for a few weeks, so there will be a gap before I can film teh missing sections and get the videos done. Sorry, but got to make money to pay for these toys.
