How many people sell their 3GX for $80, buy a BeastX or V-Bar for $200+ and think nothing about it? It's all relative to what we **want** to spend money on. Having the option to upgrade the gears is worth the money, IMO. I say buy 'em and move on y'all!

I agree, the cost of getting my Trekker in the air overall isn't going up much by adding the black gears on both sides of the tube drive and the main gear. Just wish that Align/Assurance was treating the 800 with the same policy they are treating the 700 with.

you watch how fast align comes out with a 3d specific 800 in the near future. This was a waste of time on their part as it wont get much of the AP crowd that they planned. its a bad attempt at a 3d design and that is why we see the terrible support for it. anyone worth their salt is using a hexacopter or quad for AP work with a gps board. This align offers nothing more and possibly less than a well designed quad. my hope is that after all the mods this thing will be stable and solid enough to fly. just pray to God that one of the inner servos doesnt need replacement as it looks to be a pain in the A$$ to remove......

You should just sell your Trekker and move on.

I'm too far in.....lol. I have all the mods except for the new KDE head that Patrick is designing for it. Once I have that the heli should be fine. But I'll tell you, it's a LOT of modification that needed to be done to get it air worthy. All this stuff and I don't even have 25 flights on it. : (

On the other hand, it is a perfect heli for people like me. I don't want a 3D heli!!! Otherwise, I would have bought a 700DFC or Goblin. I want a big heli that is "floaty" by design without having to buy a Vario. The Trekker is perfect for me. When I really want to get "wild", I may do a loop or roll. That's about it.

If you are a commercial cinematographer, this is the perfect heli for you too. Make money with your hobby!

If you want to get into the Guinness Book of Records, see how much cow sh## you can put in a bucket and lift it with an RC heli!

See, there's a heli for everyone!

Guys the Trekker is a 800 flying it all out at 14 lbs with crazy 3d on the deck you are going to need to do your (PM) more often then a 700E that weights in at 11.4 and is design for smack. and you still need to do your PM on the helis its part of ownership,

Thanks for the reply Dino - I don't mean to be tough on Tim or you. I would offer the feedback that the 700DFC purchase costs $100's less than the 800 and got the black gears and beefier tail hub design to address issues there. The 800 has bigger tail blades, running as a slower speed true, but still a concern. Wouldn't cost Align/Assurance much to offer this to those of use who have purchased Align's most expensive heli.

As far as PM - is there anything we should be doing other than replacing the dampers every (?) 8-10 flights

It may sound odd but i lost interest in the 800 for now, im slowly buying parts for it. Im gonna wait till spring time too see how things progress and what align will be changing around. I usually know better then to buy a first edition anything. Oh well.

At a minimum this will have the newer gears and kde owb. For obvious reasons.
Optional plans are still using the kde 395 or the newer one patrick is making. Torq servos, and a few various kde bits I got cheap. Helicommand will be installed. So really im waiting to see how the new head from kde will look. Who knows i may just put 813's on it with 14s. Overpowered, overbladed 800. I can just sit and giggle listening to it whap away.

Heli command works great on this! Patrick is also working on a replacement head that should rescue Aligns bacon.

Once again if you are that unhappy with the heli sell it and move onto another brand.

Lol, not for sale anymore issues are worked out. No more reported wear on the gear train and no more slop in the dampers. Should be solid as a rock now........
