Default Did I buy the wrong reciever?? Help Please!

I just bought a plank thats 38" wingspan and there was nobody at my LHS that new D!^k about radios & recievers, I may have screwed!

I have a Spektrum AR6100. all i find is that its for "Parkflyers" but i dont know what defines this as far as operating range??

The same reciever is in my Eflite CX2 helicopter, but i never fly that father than 50' away!

I'm running a DX8 ( the 8 channel is in my larger heli )

Any help in this would be awsome.

Thank you.

If you are flying this as a park flier (which I assume you would be with a 38 inch wingspan) I think you will be fine. Spektrum lists it for, among other things, "Foamies" and there are certainly foamies in the same size range as yours. See the following links:

As long as you don't fly to the edge of your visual limits then it should work fine.

You are very welcome. I sincerely doubt you would have a problem but it's obviously best for you to have confidence in the receiver. As an alternative you might consider one of the spektrum models that has a satellite receiver so that you have more signal diversity (I believe that's what they call it).

ive taken my 3d foamy up so high it was just a little blob of white, no issues using a ar6110, would it hurt to go with a ar6200 with a sat? nope, just more peace of mind

Just thought about this a bit more. You also might consider an ar500. It doesn't have a satellite receiver but is labeled as "full range" by Spektrum and is used in many of their bigger BNF foamies such as the T-28 and Stinson. These are a bit bigger than your plane (based on wingspan) and so presumably might be capable of being flown even further away.

if its a fomie or balsa it should be fine really dont need a sat on some thing that small unless it has a ton of CF in it or a big motor

Thanks guys for all your input, I went to the LHS and they had a AR600 in stock for just $10 more and allowed me to return/trade up the other reciever. I'm much more confident since the 600 is a "Full Range" and it also has a data port for telemetry, ...this plane is Fast!!!

Thanks again guys!!
