Default Set-up 3GX V3 for smooth scale flying

Hi,

I've got a 3GX (V3) on an Align 500E in a scale body. I don't know much about the 3GX and find the settings I've got to be a little quick on the cyclic for smooth scale flying.

I have the cyclic expo turned off (fully to the left) in the 3GX so I can use the expo in the TX (I've got 30% on the TX).

I'm finding the cyclic a bit too sharp, It does not feel as steady and as 'in control' as a flybar head.

Could anybody help me with setting the sliders on the setup page for a soft, 'in control' setup for scale flying. Maybe a screen grab ?? I don't want any fast of even quickness on the head. I'm looking for nice and soft.

Many thanks.

Try lowering your Aileron/Elevator flip and roll rates to a desired level. This should make your heli a lot more docile in combination with Expo.

Btw, what firmware are you running?

-edit-......doh, just saw you said v3. So 3.0, right?

How low is too low?

Is '0' correct for scale soft flying or is '0' too low? The instruction on the screen gives no clue as to what number is fast or slow and if '0' or '100' is for 3D or scale ??

Thanks.

Also, can I adjust the 'flight condition control' on page 1?

The on screen instruction hints that it will smooth out flight. Will it still work with Aileron/Elevator flip and roll rates adjusted down to slowest?

Also how will all this work with expo on as well?

All these adjustments 'seem' to be going in the same direction, giving the same result? Will all of it be over lapping and render the model useless in flight ???

Sunbeam,

When you lower your Flip rates etc, you can then go to the Movement screen and see the Deg/Sec value that your inputs define.

You'll notice, the lower the value, say 30 on the elevator, it will give for example 190 deg/sec flip rate in the movement screen, as opposed to 70 with 220 deg/sec.

If 50 was default, try 30 on both Ail and Ele and go from there

Thanks for that, but is '0' too slow? and how does all that tie up with flight condition control and expo on top of it all ?

I don't understand. It all seems to be the same ?

Default Set-up 3GX V3 for smooth scale flying

Lower your Duel Rates. I run as low as 45% with plenty of expo .
Roll- flip rates at 0. Don't worry , it will still Roll & Flip plenty !!!
Still flys well for FF & hard Circuit Flying including , loops & rolls would you believe.
Try it , you won't be disappointed.

Hi,

I set the Aileron/Elevator flip and roll rates to '0' and put 80 on the flight condition control with 30% on the TX.

Took it to the field for the first time for some proper flying, rather than test hovering in my garden !

She went very well with the above settings. There seems to be a very slight delay in cyclic response at dead middle stick, but once the head responds, it's fine.

The head speed was a bit low as I got some very slight wobble when backing off the throttle and the tail is a little too sharp for scale flying. Other than that, very good.

I've lowered the expo to 25%, lifted the HS a fraction and reduced the tail rate to 70% with 10% expo. All these little tweaks should get her even closer. It's just a case of tweaking now.

Thanks for all your help

Rob
