Call RealFlight / Knifeedge Software directly. They sent me out the cables I needed NO CHARGE. Nice guys too. They oftentimes fly on my Cincinnati Ohio Flight School server in G5.
Take care and hope they help you like they did me.

Is this website applicable to G5 and G5.5 as well? I did it but it doesn't want to work.
Thanks |

Using Dx transmitter with realflight
Just wanted to say thank you for this thread. Realflight sure semms to work better and is more enjoyable using a "real" transmitter.

Real Flight sans Elite Controller
Greeting All,
Was hoping someone might know of a way to use RF and a real Tx (I have a 9CAP) without having to pass through the Elite Controller. I travel a lot for business (pilot of 1:1 planks) and I can put RF on the laptop and could make a small case for my Tx and could sim during my layovers. I just cant carry 2 Tx's and the laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated,

IMO if you use a Futaba radio, the InterLink is pretty much the same ... honestly there is not a huge improvement in using your own transmitter... |

Lost Interlink Controller
So it seems my Interlink controller is MIA. Can I just buy another one and input the new serial number? Anybody have an extra one lying around that I could buy?

Does anyone know how to get the pass through TX to work with the training sections?
Thanks to int2str and his tutorial on the ironcreek website. I was using the interlink with 5.5 until the rudder potentiometer went bad and I didn't send in the controller to knifeedge because I didn't want to be without a sim during the winter (even for a week ).
Anyway his instructions were simple enough to follow to get my DX6i and DX8 to work as a pass through for most my SIM needs. However I can't seem to get it to work with the training sections of realflight (heli orientation trainer has been my fav and I miss is dearly) I make sure to modify the same model the training drills use for pass through but the models don't seem to respond to throttle regardless of channel mapping or re calibration. Does anyone know how to get the pass through to work with the training sections or if it's even possible?

I got mine working and im not really happy with the way it feels, I adjusted my end points and edited the helis to make them feel better but still something doesnt feel right to me. What is everyone elses opinion? Do you guys like flying with your real controller or do you find that the realflight controller feels better on the sim?

When I first made the change to flying on bypass with my DX8 their was and adjustment period of a couple days until it felt right. The only thing I eventually changed from the tutorial was throttle end points which were recommended to be set to 150%. I found 125% to be better for me.
Feel is such a subjective thing and will depend on the heli and tx you use in real life vs. the heli you choose on the Sim. As you can see by my signature, the largest real bird I have experience with is a 450. That being said, I feel the visual presence and behavior of the 450s on the Sim to not translate over accurately in real life (for me). My primary real heli is the 450 Pro with the 6S power setup and BeastX. The heli I found to most closely match on Realflight 5.5 is the Dominion 3D 90 Flybarred. This is really the only heli I fly on the Sim and it most closely matches the flight behavior of my 450 with the exception of Autos (which I don't do in real life) and Tic Tocs which are much easier on the Sim with the floaty behavior of a 90 size heli. I now prefer using my DX8 bypass as the Sim controller and since doing so feel it has helped take my flying at the field to the next level.

DX8 setup
I'm doing something wrong here thats got me scratching my head trying to figure out what it is. I've followed the setup instructions in the link for a DX6i even though I am using a DX8. I set up everything according to his instructions, but when I spool up the Dominion 90 3D Flybarred it immediately flips over with no input from the transmitter. Throttle hold and idle up work like they should. I am fairly new to helis and really am not sure how to fix this maybe one of you could help out. I see from earlier posts that some of you have got the DX8 working and it maybe an easy obvious fix but I'm stumped. I'm using Realflight 4.5 if that helps any.

Double check that you have the remote selected under controller - sometimes it goes back to interlink. At least that was the result for me.
I have tried a walkera remote from an exceed g2 - the menu of that remote is in Alien at best, so I have only had luck getting basic 4 ch working but trying to get swash settings, curves, etc is a joke. Using the T-6 works well though, thats the remote that comes with all the clone chopper kits - a couple tweaks via USB in the T6 config (especially the 90 degree setting) gets it working in no time.... |

Ok, I've got it worked out now...mostly. Got my DX8 setup and flying on RF properly now. The only glitch is that my idle up modes are being activated by the gyro switch. I have it setup to the fmode switch on the transmitter, but I can't figure out why RF is placing it on gyro. My mcpx is setup the same way and it works properly. It is a minor problem and I'll work it out but I'm glad to have it up and running now as (imho) the DX8 is way better to Practice with than the interlink.

I've had RF 5.5 for 6 months and have just got my DX8i working with it ....WOW what a difference But it would be even better to get the TRAINING mode working with the DX8. There just doesn't seem to be an option for it in the menus. Maybe an .ini or config file somewhere? **UPDATE: I found the answer here - http://www.knifeedge.com/forums/show...ht=loadvehicle Cheers, Matt
