If you have a conventional receiver with a satellite port, try to bind with that. I have never had luck trying to bind through the zyx-s. I always bind separately and then hook the satellite to the zyx-s. Of course you have to select the appropriate receiver type in the ZYX software (might have to iterate through all of them) or you will get the flashing yellow on the ZYX. My equipment is DSM2 DX6i but I dont think that makes a difference.

I can try binding the sat with my fubar but other than that, I haven't bought a conventional receiver since I used an align 3g on a 450, and that was just a spektrum 6110e, no sat port.

I guess I should clarify. It did appear to bind through the ZYX-s (receiver light solid after binding) The problem was the channels were not correct or not working at all in the zyx monitor page OR I always had the blinking yellow light. It may have been related to not selecting the correct receiver type in the zyx, or the procedure I was using. After weeks of reading and trying, I broke down and bought a cheap orange receiver for binding. Yours sounds like bigger binding problem.

The only time the yellow is blinking is when the other 2 are also blinking. I can go in and change the receiver type, I tried both dsmx 1&2 with no change. (yes I did change it in the radio) unless dsmx 1 is 22ms not 11ms like the software makes me think. The battery used was a 3s 1300 going through an e-flite 35 amp ESC and was at 3.9 volts per cell.
Maybe it's related to the units firmware? The only difference I have compared to the video is I have version 4.( ? ) firmware, not the 3.5 .

Back then I did try fw 3.5, but the ZYX was still always blinking yellow after initialization. Its probably worth a shot for you to try 3.5. I think my problem was I didnt correctly get the receiver type in there. I didnt know which receiver type to use either. Later I found a post that said use the DSMX-2. My satellite is a DSM2 ... confusing.

Can you point me to the 3.5 fw? And tell me how to go backwards?.
I would also like to know what the difference is between the 3.5 and 4.0

I have not seen any revision history on the firmware. All I know is on the forums. 3.5 is the fw to use if you have the initialization problem on some eflite ds76 servos. I have heard 4.02 solves the problem with pitch up on FFF. You will need some program that unzips the .rar file. inside that is a .bin file. There are some freeware programs that can do it. I have the .bin files for 3.01, 3.50, 4.00, 4.01, 4.02. all for zyx-s. PM me with your email if you want them sent to you The firmware download procedure is the same no matter what version you are going to. You may need a helper. power up the zyx Get the software connected. open the bin file. power down the zyx. While holding in the button on the side, power up the zyx. It will start flashing the red led and you can let go of the button. pretty quickly hit the program's upgrade button. if you are too slow, the zyx will go ahead and initialize and you have to do it again. You should see in the status bar some records being sent to the zyx After its done, power down and re power up. |

Good news, I got the satellite bound and working with the ZYX. I used the advice from the first response. I bound the sat with my fubar, made sure it spun the motor, then just moved the sat and esc/motor over the ZYX and the esc initialized and I could spin the motor.
Now I can benefit from everything 4.02 has to offer to my 130x build |
