Aerial photo platform

This may be a broad question ... I have not followed the multi-copter stuff to close but I would like to get back into it mostly to use as a photo platform using my Nikon1 ( 400gr) . I can build it myself no problem

what should I be looking at and what would be a nice stable controller unit ?

not looking at spending $5k ....
