Great thread. Could you take a picture next to something that we can reference the size to? A 450 or a coke can? :-)

I might get mine tomorrow, but then again I might not. :-\

some pics for size reference next to the t-500 should do quite well.

just some test hovers. still working on sizing the links in the head. still seems little jumpy. it is quiet as can be for a heli this size though, kinda spooks me that i can't hear it if it gets 20 feet away.

The flybar paddles seems a lot smaller than the T500, is it the G.Paddles of the 450? If it is, will it be enough to handle the cyclic of a heli this blade size?
Thanks a lot for sharing booger, awaiting ur flight vids.

regards,

Yes, the Protos uses a 2mm flybar and the same Gorilla Gear programmable paddles as are sold for the 450-class helis. Are they adequate ? Depends what flying style you want it to have I suppose. From the videos posted so far, they seem to work just fine for 3D. Until we see more end-user feedback it is hard to know for sure how they will suit other users (learners, scale etc.) but I suspect that they provide great agility at the cost of less inherent stability.

Kgfly,

Thanks for the heads up, i think you're right about the vids posted by corrado and it seemed adequate enough even for hard 3D, just hope this application is really as good as the larger paddles that other 500/425 helis are using. We'll see the actual results from more owners soon.

cheers,

The paddles will be fine. I ran the normal Gorilla paddles on a Lepton and they really did speed up the cyclic. I have to agree with Corrado on this one. A 3mm flybar on a heli of this size is overkill. That's the same size flybar that is on a 50 sized heli (sorry 600 for the e-heli guys ).

The 2 things that draw my eye to this bird are the main frames and the very light weight. Man that thing is sooooo light compared to other birds it's size.

I'm expecting you to post detailed pics of your build with notes.

Why is everyone running such a HUGE ESC on this heli? The batteries that are suggested aren't even rated at 80 amps continuous! I would think a 60 amp continuous with a 70 amp surge would be plenty.....?

The FP EVO25 6S 2500 is rated at 62 amp continuous....

Please correct me if I'm wrong. What does Corrado suggest? Anyone Eagle Tree'd this motor...?

I will be doing a full buildreport on a Dutch forum also Jeremy.
Not that much work (apart from translating ) to post the same report here in English if you like...
From what i've seen sofar it's a pretty easy and quick build.

I agree the Jazz 80 is a bit overkill...
But it is pretty light, has a sufficient on-board BEC for this heli, and a excellent Governor.
Definitly keeps the AUW low.
So it's a pretty expensive pick but imho the best pick..

I'm not sure but I bet a Jazz 40-6-18 would work too.
