Default Torque Tube Drive Gear Set ?

Preparing to have a few spares. I have come up on this part and have couple of questions regarding the items.

This is called a Front set. Should it not be the same, front and back?

Also same but without one bearing & housing?

And last, nothing but the gears (for front and back)?

Reason I ask is the first item on list and why it is called front. Also, when do you replace the gear only & when do you do the gear/housing set?

First set is front only
Second set is front and rear
Third set is rear only

The gears are the same all around, but there is no way you are able to get the front gear out of the bearings. Actually I found it to be a PITA getting the rear gear out of the bearing, ended up buying new bearings.

Also, keep in mind when replacing the gear that some sets just do not work. So be prepared to do some try and error with these gears and buy more then one set so you can find a matching set. Matching sets are butter smooth, so that is what you are looking for.

I have only used about half a dozen sets of TT gears so far but I haven't had any issues. My latest set seemed kinda noisy during setup but it could have been the black main gear as well...everything was fine once I got a couple of flights in and things quietened down quickly.

I've had many sets of wobbly TT gears. Even the "good" sets have to break in and get smoother after a few flights. I usually get a little tail wag until the gears break in as well.

Default gears

I use an arbor press I bought from harbor freight....a good investment for sure..

U could use some vise grip pliars, just make sure u don't clamp down so hard it deforms th bearing....then lay that between 2 board and press the gear through useing another board..
