Default Logo XXtreme - Kontronik Pyro 800

Just got this new Pyro 800-40L for my XXtreme, got it mounted in the heli ready for a flight test now, just curious if anyone knows if i should raise the timing and/or drive rate on the YGE to accommodate this motor

Thanks, Tony

G'day Tony,

It looks good. I'm jealous. Nice Readyheli has stock but our Australian distributor doesn't. I'm not sure if I'm being told half truths or straight up fibs.

Looking forward to some feedback on flight performance.

Oh! You'll be able to peel off that Scorpion sticker now.

Today i put 5 flights in on the Xxtreme with the new Pyro 800 motor, very impressed so far with the power and performance of this motor. First thing i noticed is that it seems to make more power than the scorpion pulling harder through maneuvers especially tictocs, and has increased my flight time from 4mins to almost a full 5mins running the same 1800rpm, same flying style leaving 25% left on the packs. Also the highest temp i saw on the motor was 130F compared to the scorpion that was more in the 160F range.

A whole minute increase leaving the same capacity is incredible!!

Does that mean you're changing your mind about the scorpion motor?

Well this guy who was only getting 4 mins on the Scorpion obviously flies a lot harder than me as I could fly for 5:30 so if he is getting one whole minute what could I expect to gain. I can't see it being that efficient compared to the Scorpion.

I agree that on the 700's they are more efficient but I have never had increases like this before and I have used many variations of the Scorpions and both the 700 pyro's.

But then these large 800 size motors are new territory for me so they could very well be like this.

I won't be getting one no. I would like to see one first

Fair enough.

If Kontronik ever decide to supply their Australian distributor (given that distributor placed their order at Nuremberg back in February) then I'll be able to report back on the combo's performance. I'll bet someone's going to beat me to it though.

luckyhs,
The Pyro motor has 14 poles, so put 7 in the vbar gov sensor configuration box

To be fair to K (after I've had a shot at them myself recently), I received my Pyro 800-40L today and it clearly lists the motor pole count in the motor specs chart at the end of the manual that comes in the motor box.

G'day Luciano,

I'm glad you like it. You're a few days ahead of me. I'm hoping for a flying session on Sunday.

Sounds good.
But why has a 500 gram motor more power then the heavy 670gram Scorpion?

Is that because of the 14 poles instead of the 10 poles scorpion...?

A quote I read somewhere else was, "Chinese ponies vs German horses" but probably more to do with the pole count and the wind.
