Well, the fuse proved useful in my last crash this weekend. Connector still melted so something shorted. The Kosmik is practically destroyed so no way of testing if it burnt or the fuse helped it survive the short. It didn't survive the beating though... Motor ended 30 feet away from the heli.

the concern about soldering heavy lugs
Solder, where is solder? You mean the lugs are soldered to the PCB?

No Sir, bolted, and btw no contact grease to displace the oxygen.
It's worse, colleague.

Some more crappy details.. spacers made of too soft thermoplastic (Greetings from the hardware store), too short threads (rattling in KOSMIK), only thermal compound between DirectFETs and aluminum plate (unsafe insulation). ...senseless second aluminum plate, because the center part is made of plastic...

Marcos, I'm very sorry for your heli.
Let me guess: Speed flight and full speed into the ground.

fuse helped it survive
It cannot. That's not the job of the fuse.

Yup, Banshee speed flight without remembering to change ratio in Jlog after changing pinion, so what I read as 2300 was 2560......... original thrust bearing gone kabooom!

Steep and harsh learning curve!!!

BTW, the HV2BEC lost a.... pot? capacitor? One of the two big grey "cans" at the back. Have a friend knowledgeable in electronics who will try to solder it back, otherwise I might send it your way.

Hi

if the only HVČ damage are the alu cans on the back, if can be repaired. You need hot air to solder it, but any electronic geek should be able to help you . I can send you two caps to get those replaced. The monitor can be repared as well, just send it over to me.

The Kosmik fuse is there, to safe you and your battery and everything else in case of a catastrophic failure inside of the Kosmik. This happened in your case. Without fuse your heli could have easily caught on fire!

Sorry for your loss!

Thanks. I have the broken cap, only that the two connectors are cut at the base. I'll see if I can get one here, otherwise I'll contact you.

The monitor seems to only be unglued. The connecting strip seems to be intact. I'll now as soon as I can power the BEC again. The power cables were damaged too so they need to be changed as well.

Hi

those are organic polymer capacitors, no standard parts at all.

Did the fuse even blow? It would be worthy to check and see if it did...

It is very beaten and the first thing I looked was to see if it blew or just broke. I'd say it blew and then broke. The Kosmik negative connector is melted but in the caos of the crash it's impossible to know what hit what and in what sequence.

I will grab a few of these when they are available, haven't used the fuse on any of my birds, as I saw it as a liability rather than protection, this makes it viable.

My fuse finally arrived from Europe via rowboat, thank you Linus.

Very nice piece of kit, but the manner in which I had to mount it means you don't really see the board.
