Some basic ?'s....for now
Please forgive my newbness, but the Total G will be my first attempt at flybarless. It should be here in the morning. Now my first question are:
1. How do I set up my radio?( DX7).I'm talking about the first page when you set up a new model..ie.. swash-120, name, 3 servo's, etc, assigning the gear/aux channel. 2. I'm putting it on a Velocity 50. Can/Should I keep my align 2in1? Well like i said please forgive me. This is just the beginning, I'm sure I will have a ton more question. Thanks Andre

your radio setup on the first page will be 1 servo: norm. all ccpm mixing will be done in the total-g, not the radio.
you can keep your 2 in 1. plug the servo plug into the pwr port on the total-g.

after your bind (assuming spektrum with satellites) and connect your total-g to the software interface via the usb cable make sure you initially assign a switch to control the FC gain (aux 2). you have to do this in the software. once its assigned to aux 2 make sure that the flight control gain is 0% (hover your mouse over FC gain to see the %). then begin leveling servos and swash. leave the FC gain at zero throughout your setup. once the setup is completed put your FC gain back to 48% for the initial flight. if you have FC gain on while doing your setup the gyros wont reflect the actual settings and will throw off all your hard work.

Warning: This only applies to nitros OR you MUST disconnect two motor wires from your ESC.
I noticed last night during my initial that the way around doing this on a 7ch radio is to make sure the FC gain channel is set to GView and leave the FC gain at the default 48. Then hop over to the Gov menu and set high and low throttle. Come back to the MainRotor menu and set your TrimLock to activate on throttle. Then you can now do all your head setup in throttle hold (assuming you run a linear pitch curve in TH) because the FC is in decay mode and takes the control loop out of the equation. When you want to check gyro directions and activate the control loop just flip out of TH and put your throttle anywhere above 50% (Idle1, Idle2, etc.) and your back in TrimLock mode and gyros are active. Again, if this is an electric heli you MUST disable two motor wires. OR: Just assign FC gain to it's own channel if you have an extra channel and set your lower ATV in the radio to zero. Assign that to a switch and you can now disable FC on the fly. My DX7 is setup as follows: Gear->Gear Aux2->Aux2 Gear: is used for the tail gain in the TotalG Aux2: used for creating 3 flight mode speeds via the gov If anyone needs help with setting up the DX7 let me know. |
