Where are you guys finding the 3/4" strapping tape? I can only find the 2" wide stuff here local. I'm sure someone has it local to me but I just haven't found it. I'm in St. Louis Missouri.

Very Creative,
How do you deal with different sized packs to maintain CG with this setup?

I don't, I own 1 pack. without the battery support, the packs can be shifted on the tray.

I thought I'd resurrect this very helpful thread. I was trying to find some photos showing how guys did their 12S wiring on their 700's and this thread came up.

Might as well pay it forward ya know

If I can help just one fellow freak then it's well worth taking the time

I think it looks neat and tidy the way I did it. Also, with the wires hanging down toward the bottom of the heli, this eliminates the possibility of shredding the wires on the sides of the carbon frame when the tray is inserted (been there done that )

BTW, these are the Sky lipos from Hobbypartz. Very good price for these - $70 each for the 5000 6S packs. I use them in my ducted fan jets and they are holding up great!

I have seen it, bit it has been awhile. Never felt the need to try it.

The biggest issue when doing that is the metal blocks that are used to join the carbon lower plate to the frame sides. They will make it difficult to get the pack in or our and risk puncturing it.

If you want to try, you could cut a plywood spacer to fit in the bottom to get the pack clear of the blocks, but the tray is pretty darned convenient.

Does anyone have a pic of their 12s setup using Gens Ace 5300 batteries on the battery tray?

This question is for people that have "life lipo" or "lipo 2s"

How do you connect the batteries to the electronics?, Use switch?

You can post photos or explain

In the future I will build a Super Combo 700dfc HV servos and BeastX .. I will not use BEC I use a 2s Lipo battery

y

either connect the pack every flight or rig up a switch. using a switch usually requires a custom switch harness of some sort. I use a switch rated at 16A, 125V AC.

This is the switch I use.

http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...W325-ND/161107

You will need to solder up your own harness.

The switch is similar to this GEM switch but with a higher amp rating. The GEM switch uses servo style connectors on the harness and the wires are a tad small for my liking but are probably OK.
Ron's also carries a bracket to mount the switch if you don't want to make your own. I made my own.

Sorry to bring up a older thread but for the guys that wire their packs in series at the batteries and run one jumper lead to the ESC. How bad is the spark with 44 volts? I can't imagine that the EC5 connectors last very long with that size of a spark?
