Where do you guys mount all your electronics? I want to put them on the mount for convenience, but that would make it more nose heavy. I guess I just have to play with my setup and mounting locations. Here are some pics of what I did with the tail to help the nose heavy situation. This is the CNC alum servo mount from E-bay. very solid.
I really like these tail blades, and I hope I can work out my tail problem and still use these blades.

Think my rod is straight enough?

Still working on the rest and waiting for parts.

Maybe I should change the thread title to:
converting a trex 700 underslung to a nose mount.
Iven,

What did you use to make up the control rod/ends ?

I'm about to do the same on my Silence (need to move the CG back further).

Tips ?

Thanks
Jesse

I got the quick UK rod ends from grandRC and the replacement rod.

http://www.grandrc.com/inc/sdetail/60912
they sell a kit, but it includes the CNC servo mount and it costs $40.

I got the servo mounts from XMseller on ebay. it the same ones from helidirect.
but you can get tehm cheaper off ebay if you keep an eye out for ending auctions.
teh only thing is that the align balls are just a little too small
I had to get titan balls, and a tiny drop of CA to make them slop free

Talking My day

Here is how my day off went.
Slept till 11am, charged my packs, went to the field and shot autos for 30 minutes. on the way back home I stopped at the beach and found an empty spot to fly a little. I used all my big lipos while practising autos, so all I had left were the little 3200mAh packs.
Way too light with the video camera setup, but it was my only day off so I went for it
It is still very windy today, and the light heli was getting blown all over the place. No cameraman, or downlink setup. It was on the heli, but no one to operate or tell me to slow the hell down I had some nice slow FF low over the water, but I got lots of dropped frames on the segment for some reason. Probably the old overused tape.
Also, no expo or stab. The nose mount is still rigid mounted, but i'm devising a way to get some vibe absorption in there. 100MB video:

better than shooting grass!

Thanks Pete, just using my crappy PVGS120. I bought it for home use long ago, and am looking to buy a HD cam, but my main focus is still photos, so I dont know why i'm trying so hard to get cool videos

Because of the front mount

It begs to toss on a cam and shoot video.

Yeah, rub it in, rub it in.

I'm still wearing a down parka, hat, boots, and radio mitt.

I need to not look at this thread anymore, it's too tempting to build a 700 pronto.

This morning. 6:30am. I still have sand on my feet

http://photos.imageevent.com/bullacu...i/chambers.mpg

This is all shot with no EXPO and no STAB. Just practising getting smooth video without help. The heli still gets a slight shake sometimes. Working on some damping iedas...
Everything was shot on one flight using my 10s 5350 lipo. The entire flight lasted 13minutes, and I only put back 3950mAh according to my 1010/210 charger. So YES! I can fly for over 12 minutes safely! ...as long as its not a stationary hover.
Enjoy!

:edit:
Man, mpeg1 sux... if anybody wants to bittorrent the AVI, let me know...
