Default Aeolus E50SV electric motor KV rating

I've the E50SV that uses the seperate main and tail drive gears, not the revised version available in new releases. I'm wanting to purchase a Scorpion motor for it to replace the no-name motor that came with the heli.

The dealer I bought the heli from cant confirm the electric motor KV rating, can anyone advise what KV motor I need to purchase please for a 12S setup?

Also, anyone who has fitted a Scorpion to their Aeolus 50 I would be very interested to hear their thoughts, thanks.

Default motor setup for 12s

Hello Allan,

A buddy and I have each an Aeolus E50 cf-version (gf -version has a tail-belt).

Our setup is a little bit different:

- buddy runs: Scorpion HK4035-530 (530 kV) with YGE 120 HV esc

- my setup: Scorion HK4025-550 (550 kV) with CC Ice HV2 80A

We both converted the basic cf-kit with the stock fbl-head and weboth run 2x Turnigy 6s Nano-tech 3300mAh LiPos as a 12s package. He's on the 30C version and I'm running the higher C-rate version available. Can't comment on this yet, as there's a lack of on-hand experience to make some judgement. We both run separate BEC's for our Rx, I think he uses a Yeti-BEC (?) and myself using a Turnigy 8/15A UBEC (very reliable for little money).

Pinion is the stock one, just ordered the same teeth pinion with the corresponding motor shaft size - as far as I remember this was the 6mm ID-pinion instead of 5mm for my motor ? Scorpion still sells some 600' class engines with ID 5mm !

My buddies E50 and his combo flies really nice - low noise level and E50 seems to have lots of power ..

Best Regards,
Oliver

P.S: I hope the CC Ice HV2 80A holds w/o vaporizing, anyway, if in doubt, you can't go wrong with the YGE 100 or 120 HV w/o ruining your bank account ..

Thanks Oliver, 4035 530kv it shall be then. I'll provide an update once I've installed and given it a run. I'll be using a Kontronik 120HV with a 12S setup which is what the heli uses now with the no name donk.

UPDATE..

Just picked up a HKIII 4035 530kv, for about US 180 brand new... I will post an update once i have installed it and taken the big ol' brid for a run.

Thanks Allan
