Changing swash settings didn't affect the perfect swash behaviour. So I decided to leave them Swash settings all stock, changed tail p+10 or 15%, i+10, gain 100% on highest rpm. Increased gain up to 120 for low rpm.

Settings depend much on your electronic parts and linkange rod lengths etc.

Interesting, sounds like your numbers are from a 450 <G>, but I don't understand the "just enough to lazily lift the heli" at 3031

i've setup a few 450's for folks, and the one I had the most fun with was Chris Mulcahy's mini titan. I setup three modes since he wanted 3000 (VERY 3D'able, plenty of power), but i wanted to see how low it would go and still fly well. I setup 2200 and 2600 on it also, and I love 2200. Really long flights, and can do all the smooth 3D you want.

According to Mr Mels if my motor stayed a 3700KV after the rewind im getting
Normal - 76% - 3031 Just enough to lazily lift the heli.
Idle up1 - 86% - 3205 Nice lazy 3D flips and rolls relaxing sorta.
Idle up2 - 96%- 3378 Hard core ripping tic tocking 3D. I don't fool with tic tocs much though it just seems like they'd wear my links out out quicker.

I feel like the numbers might be a little lower but thats all I have to go on without a tackometer.

Hey Gary, Ill have to try 2200 sometime.

I know what my headspeed is now. I checked with Audacity sound recorder and Heli Headspeed app and they both agree closely.

Any updates on this? Would be nice if one could test the new software before the winter arrives .

On a site thundertiger.com in the section download I found new firmware. Having looked at the updating program I saw that the USB interface is usual USB->COM converter. Same were used for Spartan 760, etc. Thus, I already updated the GT5 to GT5.2. Don't wait for emergence of original USB dongle, safely use any USB->COM

This is interesting, on the firmware download page:

Quote:
*GT5 hardware version will display on the initial. All GT5 are hardware1.0 and all GT5.2 are hardware2.0. But some GT5.1 are hardware 1.0 and some are 2.0. Please notice the hardware version. If you download the wrong software GT5 will not work.
-So I wonder if anyone already has the 5.2 hardware and didn't know it?
-Is the 5.2 hardware 6 axis?
-Most importantly, if I buy one from towerhobbies or anywhere else, how do I know if the 5.1 is the 5.2 hardware or not??

Looking forward to getting my hands on one.

The PC software is pretty nice. Compared to some PC interfaces it look very straight forward

You can even customize your Startup Banner!!

I would think there are many usb ttl/rs232 devices that would work. If this was a $50 gyro I would try some of the ones I have. But for a ~$200 gyro I'll either buy the official or at least one that many people have said is good to use.

I have one for the beastx, tarot, walkera, superbrain esc.. more... The drivers were already installed when I installed the GT5 Link software.

I know that when I installed the GT5.2 pc software it installed the same usb driver that was used for my Turnigy Superbrain. It can be hard enough getting these usb links working without guessing at using a dongle from some other application. I'd hate to find out that one device has +5v where the GT5 is expecting signal.

UK helinut, use Spartan interface:
1. Connect it to your computer.
2. Find it in the Device Manager - «Flash-Link».
3. Open the properties of «Flash-Link». In the properties, select the "VCP" (there is only one option to choose from, can not go wrong), then "OK". Then in Device Manager Flash-Link will be seen as "Flash-Link COM № ...".
4. This «COM № ...» select in GT5 Tools.
5. Connect the interface to the GT (connector "Term").
6. Click in GT5 Tools "firmware update".
7. Next, the program will ask you turn the power on GT.

So has anyone updated a "5.2" hardware yet? There was a rumor that the 5.2 hardware would have 6 axis control? According to TT some of the units in the 5.1 shell are 5.2 hardware. I'd like to know what exactly are the differences in the 5.2 hardware.

Cheers

5.2 hardware is 3 axis just like 5.0 and 5.1. Only difference is the sensor. The 1.0 hardware has a sensor speed of 500 degrees/sec and 2.0 hardware has a sensor speed of 1000 degrees/sec. That will be a welcomed change as the only area that i thought the GT-5 has been lacking in was the max piro rate. The manual for 5.2 is available for download at thundertiger.com.

Some one in another thread said the hardware has accelerometers but they aren't used because of software size.

Either way I'm really looking forward to getting one but dont want to end up getting the 1.0 hardware.
