Default Quick UK tail assembly - need help

So I am trying to install a quk tail for the first time and need some help. I am assuming that I need to use part of the Mikado tail rotor control sleeve assembly (part # 4235), correct?

How to you separate the slider arm from the brass bushing/bearing assembly without damaging the part? I have already trashed one of these trying to pull/pry it apart

Yes it is on the stock slider, and it just unscrews.

Use 7mm wrench to remove sleeve without damage.

vbar hates sticky tail sliders. easy to get a tail wag.

you probably know this:

make sure the slider mechanism is glass smooth end to end. on mine, if I tightened the bolts that fasten the slider arms to the blade holders too much, the mechanism would bind, mostly at the end of travel, but you could tighten so much that the thing is really balky. . let the locktite do its job I loosened those bolts just enough to get smooth operation. this happened on my trex 400 too a while back so i remembered to check the slider operation. sticky slider is a leading cause of tail wag.

and you may already know this too:

put the locktite in the bolt holes (I used a toothpick) , not on the bolt threads or you might get locktite in the wrong place. that makes for a REAL sticky slider.

In what order are the bearings installed in the tail grips? radial -> thrust -> radial?

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere. And I didn't take mine apart. I just installed it and have been flying it without major issues.

Thanks for the tips guys. They are appreciated!

Sorry alexf1852, I'm not sure on the assembly order as mine came assembled.

In this order put the bearing in first 1.Bearing 2.Thin silver washer 3.Thrust washer (larger inner diameter) 4.Thrust bearing (open side facing the inside) 5.Thrust washer (smaller inside diameter) 6.Washer with extension attached 7.Screw

I was afraid of that. I was told by someone who makes high quality CNC FBL heads, swashplates, and tail rotors that thrust bearings should not be put at the end of the tail grip like some companies do. He didn't mention who was doing it wrong but did say that MSH was doing it correctly. They should be put in between the radial bearings with the smaller inside diameter thrust washer on the outside against the outermost radial bearing. This minimizes any side loads on the thrust bearings.

This might explain why I have developed quite a bit of side to side play right in the tail grips.

LOL. I just checked the stock tail and it's the same way with the thrust bearing on the outside. Now I'm curious on if Mikado did the same bearing order with the XXtreme's tail.
