I thought you were spotting on the tail as well, as in your sim video you sent me you were doing things that I didn't think could be done without doing so. I know I have to do that, because Grant told me. He said soon after you will, I will, be able to make the forwards backwards elevator into a narrow stir, pushing in more and more left and right aileron as I do so, which will allow for more complex moves. As for putting more piros in, that's all I do now, round and sodding round. The only time I stop is when it is going wrong and it needs to be a rescued, lol. Which is quite a lot of the time if I'm honest, but it's getting less frequent, so I am getting there. At least most of the time now I've learned to stop pirouetting in order to rescue it. If you don't, and you've lost it, it's quite hard to rescue it whilst it's still spinning around. The only time I am approximating to a proper stir though is in level flight, either upright or inverted, but it is this that led to being able to do it a little more when off level, because you can start to imagine it a being level but just on its side. Does that make sense? No, never mind, it does to me. In truth all stuff Grant told me about several years ago, but that just shows how quickly he learned it to begin with.

Cheers

Jeeze, I got to bitch a little here, so please forgive me as I stand on my soap box. This 12 nite shit at work SUCKS!!!!
Hell, they don't even make prisoners do this! Only in America, huh?

Wake up at 4 Pm, out the door at 5:30, back home at 6:30 AM and to bed 45 minutes later!
Who's bright idea is this anyway? The bastards!!!

Doing anything, doctor, haircut, whatever, requires loosing sleep. Not that sleep is easy during daylight hours. You don't go into a deep relaxing sleep. More like drifting in and out.

Summer will be better, I guess. At least I can then get some flying in!

This not only sucks, it sucks out loud, makes all kinds of loud slurping sounds!!!!

Ok, I'm feeling better today.

Went to bed early last nite and got out the door to do some flying by 3 PM when there was still some daylight and warm enough.
Just a little test flight, checking out some changes. Worked well and once again I'm happy.

Back to work again tomorrow for 3 days this time, what a strange schedule.

Hurry up spring!

Glad you got a bit of a flight time, Tom. I'm about to be depressed: this is my last week home and since relatively calm weekend and my hexa tests it started blowing near gale; yesterday the winds were 60-70kph, some fallen trees and a bent gate to the office parking lot. The wind is howling today, the forecast is depressing, even if it looks like it's supposed to calm down a bit later this week:

I am spotting on the nose and tail, I just find the tail really comfortable almost instinctive now. It's just that I really have to look out for the nose, say when doing a faster piro turn. It's just not as instinctive as the tail, so I'm more inclined to start stirring from the wrong point, so more chance of thing going wrong at that point.

I'm still getting loads of sim practice, so hopefully I will have it practised on the sim and ready to deploy come the real flying season.

Can't beleive how many good flying days have been missed, as this winter has been relatively mild so far. A few cold snaps, but plenty of nice calm sunny days when I have found myself with a few spare hours to kill. Frustrating not being able to get just a set of servo gears so I can get something going, but I really just don't have the time or money yet. Probably 2 or 3 more weeks to go before I get back to it.

I'm about half way through the home renovation now. The building work is finished and the plasterer arrives in the morning. This weekend I do the electrics, next week the plumbing and boiler. The week after I build the new workbench and decorate, then I move back in. Will have another sort out and get some stuff up on ebay, finish my tax return, then I can get back to the all new singing and dancing workbench to prepare for a summer of fun

Bookings for work are going well, so I will start ordering the bits I need from next week.

My gratis Microheli flybar arrived for the CX2 today. I didn't get the individual spares I requested, they just sent me a whole new flybar. I'm happy with that, as it's valued at £30, but feel my complaint about the inidividual parts not being available has not been listened to. Ah well, least I sort of got what I wanted

Fixed the issue with the 450 grip and just went out to test fly. Perfect tracking right off the bat, but then again it nearly always is using the blade fold back checking technique. Thanks to Dave for first bringing this to my attention going way back.

Anyway, thought I would share this because it is funny. Here is a shot of the tape I have on one of the blades. I've been flying with these unmatched blades for weeks now with no issues whatsoever.

Huge difference in weight. When I first tried to balance them the heavy blade practically slammed into the table. I had no others, other than two unmatched ones, so I had no choice and so went for it. God knows how much weight difference there is, but you can see the difference in thinckness for yourself.

One thing is for sure, if I hadn't balanced them it would have been dreadful. Get those props balanced Jerry.

Cheers

Finally started my 500 conversion to a Blackhawk fuselage over the weekend.

Stage 1 was the installation of the 4 bladed head and the scorpion tail unit.....which turned out to actually be a virtually a rebuild of the heli itself, as new frame sides needed to go on as well. The kit comes with the frame sides which allow you to move the tail boom block around (lower it). The new frame also has a battery tray at a mch steeper angle so it can fit behind the cockpit and pilots.

Hmm....I'm adding weight at the back and extending the heli.....and making the front effectively shorter.....

Can't see any problems coming up there then....

Where's the pics, Luke? Or did you forget the signed contract to become a Belt CP forum member?

If it's of interest, maybe I should do a separate build thread. If nothing else, it will give you guys a chance to input some pearls of wisdom that may help me avoid some pitfalls that are doubtless headed my way...

Make a thread, I'd say. You could call it Belt 500 Blackhawk if you wanted

No flying and no progress this week, it's howling at least 50-60kph in gusts...

Jerry, I'm kind of suprised you haven't mounted an fpv system to that rc truck you bought! That would be fun when the wind there is so crappy.
