Glue that holds in motor
I'm replacing my frame this weekend and just curious what the black glue is that eflite uses to hold in the motor. If nobody knows or has any suggestions for what they have used as a substitute that works, please let me know. Thanks

I just use Elmer's White Glue. This is what was recommended on the included DVD. It holds just fine, but comes off cleanly when it's time to change the motor.

A sudden stop like in a high speed crash can put alot of force on the motor, It would take some thing more permanent like an epoxy to keep the motor from moving but that would make changing it or the frame a problem.

Mine moved after a heavy landing.I tried ordinary silicone and it just melted with the heat. Then I remembered I had a tube of Shoe Goo and tried that.Just a small amount applied down the joint between motor and frame with a small flat bladed screwdriver does the trick, and it doesn't look unsightly.
The motor stays put now,and it will remove easily when required. Last edited by Dragonfly 118; 03-11-2012 at 03:06 AM.. |

The liquid electrical tape works and holds up pretty well to the heat.

I used 1 drop of CA at one of the corners. When I needed to replace the motor a little bit of CA remover did the trick

If I tried to use ca on that I would probably end up gluing the whole heli into one solid part..lol I always get that crap every where I don't want it.

Plus 1 on the hot glue gun. I use this to hold the motors, the connections for the tail and main motors and the main drive gear.

What do you do, just put a little dab on the bottom of the gear and shaft to keep the gear in place ?
