Default FBL Hands OFF

I have been out of heli's for a while I was reading my April copy of Model aviation there is a storey about a Trex 450 with a Beast and that with it it would by it self maintain hover in wind. Further it would do inverted hover hands off is this stuff true?

What about the eltronics that come with some of the kits i.e. Trex 550

Can some of you help me out with this? infact when I was last flying heli's all I couls manage was ciruits

Thanks

No, it is not true. The majority of flybarless controllers (including the Beastx) will not hover hands off unless you consider hands off to mean a second or so. There are controllers that have auto level such as the Skookum 720 and the Helicommand. However, the more popular units such as the Beast, Vbar, 3GX etc. do not. I fly the Skookum and it will self level. I don't fly with it active, I only use it if the heli gets away from me, I flip a switch and it rights itself.

Thumbs up

I personally have the same heli (450 Sport) with the same set up (microbeast) installed and even though it will not hover hands off, the "beginner's mode" almost feels like flying a coaxial helicopter... very, very easy to control and to hover... Im able to take my hands off the radio for a good 3 to 5 seconds once the heli is on a stable hover... very nice set up and very easy to fly with it. Love it!!!

Coming from FB helis, FBL is as close to "hands off" as I have seen. The heli doesn't want to fall off the bubble as a fb heli would. For the most part it just sits there. It'll drift, but not like a fb heli. It's so much more stable and is effortless to fly.
