Quick update. After a few packs the heli seems to start running even smoother and spools down a bit longer.
I can get up to 6 minutes flight time with my 2800mAh 30C pack at 2900rpm, and i'm throwing it around pretty hard. Balances out nicely with my ESC under the mainshaft. If your ESC is at the front you should be able to balance out a light 2200 pack also. Difference in flight handling is really small. It does climb a bit faster with a light pack. Still getting the 2800. I can put them in series on my Hurricane's, but thats just me. Only have 4 flights capability on the big heli now, love to be able to carry 7 to the field, or fly 9 packs if i only take my miniP with me.

Well I finally pulled the trigger on my first Mini-P
Decided on the barebones kit in the end as it only cost £159. Bought the MSH 3S motor after fellow freakers warned against going with a Turnigy, and I went with the cheap Align 3G blades - can always upgrade these at a later stage. May also stretch it eventually, so made sense to go with the cheaper 325 blades initially - has anyone had any look using the align blades? I'm going to fit my spare Turnigy AE45 ESC as I've used it successfully on my 300X - the governor seems to do a decent job. I'm also going to fit some cheap henge D922MG servos that I have spare again I can always upgrade at a later stage. They have a good spec, but they do develop a bit of slop (as do Savox by all accounts), I'm moving the BeastX out of the 300X into this heli and the 300X is being fitted out with a ZYX-s

Steve,
I use the Align 3G on my Mini Protos and they seem fine, however I used the 922MG on one of my 450s and they were horrible, very sloppy and course. I use Savox 0257 and they are much, much better. Cheers, Mike |

OK thanks. The servos were just spare from an old 450 I had, so thought I'd give them a go - sounds like I'll be upgrading those shortly though.

Has anybody used the Hyperion DS11-SCB on a Mini Protos (or other 450)?
They only weigh 10g and are on offer for £16. I've used the tail servo with good results before now - they tend to remain slop free over time. Spec at 4.8V: 0.15 sec/60°, 1.7kg/cm

I used them on a 450 and they worked fine - my only gripe was that gear sets are a bit pricy (£6.50) and I kept breaking gears in crashes - can't really blame the servos for that though - they worked fine

So when I pick up a decent set of cyclics (probably Savox or Hitec) then the only thing I've cheapskated on is the ESC. Lets hope the Turnigy AE45 (using a separate BEC) is up to the job. I know the 3S motor is only 6 poles, so should be ok in that regard. Oh, I forgot to mention I'm going to try the Turnigy 306g (MKS clone) on the tail as I already have a spare. Hopefully it will hold the tail OK. Anybody else used these on the tail?

I had a 306g hv on the tail of my tarot 450 and it worked great for my style of flying. A 3d pro may say otherwise. I ran it at 5.5v so performance should have been about the same as the standard 306g.
