Default G570 Reciever Battery Question

For you guys running a separate receiver battery, where are you mounting it? Im running 6s. Are you putting it behind the 6s on the tray? Underneath? I have the wiring on this thing really clean and for the life of me, Im not happy with the placement . If anyone can post a pic, that would be awesome.. Thanks for any input..

IF you're running 6S, then putting it on the tray behind the lipo would certainly be the cleanest placement.
Otherwise I believe it's supposed to be underneath, there are even little tabs to hold it in place with an o-ring or such.

I'm just putting mine behind my flight lipo.

But I'm also running a 1800mAh Rx pack, calculated for one trip to field and number of packs I'll put threw it for my style flying.

BK servos, BD 3SX

2 flights, 4 min's each.

My nerves (MS) need a brake after 4 min's

By time I run 2-3 packs threw each bird my nerves and back has had it.

Shoulders get trashed pushing my chair around the field even with my wife helping out.

So 2 flights will be no worries about Rx lipo draining to far. I could even squeeze out a third if the 550X takes a digger on first of 2 packs for that.

I just fly scale/sport Big sky dancing.

I'll still check it's level after 2nd flight to makes sure.

What size are you going with?

I can't decide to run a BEC or pack...

Just ordered 2 of these from the USA Warehouse. Was $28 shipped for 2.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=23824

This time i measured the size of the location where I want to put it! these are a little boxy but should fit perfect under the heli and i'll use velcro and a rubber band to secure them. (There is already tabs for a rubber band on the heli).

Not sure how many flights I can get but hoping for 3-4 on each which will be plenty and I can charge in the field.

I am glad I was able to go with LIFE though, They don't have the issues of being stored full charged like LIPO and put out a much more consistent voltage. If I need more flights and don't want to charge in the field i'll order more. 10 bucks each!

Thanks for the link..

Seems like a smart way to go...I'm still kinda debating on a Gryphon or WR Bec to run with a Castle 130 EDGE or go with a pack like you purchased. Can I ask what are the main reasons you went this way?

I have a WR Super BEC, I didn't have Any issues with it but I'll run it on my 6HVU. I have been told by a reliable source that the WR BECs are not insulated and produce a lot of noise that can cause issues with the rx and FBLs.

A LIFE rx pack seemed like an inexpensive, reliable solution with the only draw back is your need to charge them

I'm so happy I ordered a pulse 3600mah 2s. Doesn't need charged every other flight or so! After 5 flights she was at 60%. It's mounted in the tray sitting in tandem behind my pulse 5000mah 6s.

oh wow! I am running 12s so don't know where I would fit it, I returned the 3500's and got 1700's.

THe LIFE's are heavier than LIPOs for the same size but I like that they can be kept full charge without issue

Thats exactly what I plan to do with mine on the 1700's. They are a little shorter and boxier than that lipo but should fit perfect in the space.

Where did you get that heavy duty band holding it on there? And how many flights are you getting?

I expect to get 4-5 per pack and I have 2 packs which is more than i will fly the G570 in a day as I have other helis as well. So 8-10 flights without recharging. If I want more, I have the charge cable and can charge it up pretty quickly. I think the larger packs are just wasted weight. Even these little ones are around 100g!

I just saw the RJX 40 amp BEC, That is tempting! 40 grams and capable of 40 amp draws!

I'm still building (should be done this week) so I don't have a definitive answer on flight counts. I'm using a 3s 1300mah on my Trex 550 with a SG Reactor and I get 6-8 flights per pack so I'm hoping for 4-5 on the G570 with the 2s. The batteries were about $10 each so I picked up 3 for now.

Here's a link to the o-ring I settled on. I ordered a bunch of different sizes and thicknesses and decided on this one. Honestly, the velcro is so strong the band is really just holding the balance wire down and adding a little piece of mind.

The lipo RX pack is different than the main pack. they can be left at full charge. I flew 4 packs today. RX still at 73%. I wouldn't be happy to charge it every 4 flight or less.

I fly mine in 6S config with 2s LiFe 1450 mAh and get 10 flights. After that I always end up putting 900-950 mah in. Usually I charge after 5 flights though.

Flight style somewhat aggressive 3D and flight time 3:00-3:30. I already have parts to upgrade to 12S with Jive 80 Pro and going to use it´s inbuilt bec, with capasitor(s) if needed.

Mine is on 12S setup. I have 3 sets of main batteries and after these 3 flights I can put back max 280-300mAh in to my 2s LiFe 1450 mAh which feeds all the electronics. My electronics, however, is not very demanding: align615/655 servos and VBar Min with 2 sats.

So, as you can see from the image, I mount it in on top of main batteries on velcro plus align's narrow velcro around (you need two of them for adjustable length). if you check the battery tray there are special hooks on each side of it, which let velcro to go through.

I'm running a Kontronik ESC so don't run a separate receiver pack, ran the same setup previously on a Logo for more than 2 years and had zero problems - I fully understand if your BEC is on the weak side then a separate receiver pack can be an option, but for me it's added weight.
