The reason I ask is because I live in a high rise building made of concrete and steel. I fully expect to get crazy readings if looking at anything while in my home.
I haven't tried / updated my field terminal yet ... I guess I should do that this evening.

Hmm...I wonder how one would know what the "real" value was without having to take a laptop out to the feild with them? I guess I could just look at the base values without the GPS unit mounted on the heli and them compare to any difference or change once on the heli. Any change in values could be assumed as coming from the heli or mounting location itself.

I edited my original reply. This value IS indeed shown on the SK-LCD. It is another value that is not (Position Accuracy)...

Wow! USPS Fail!

Apparently my package has been sitting in California all week.

Skookum, I think you may have better luck in the future with the Pony Express!

Well guys, it looks like it may be NEXT weekend if I'm lucky before I have a chance to try this out.
Looks like the people who ordered from HeliDirect may get theirs sooner than I do

I may wait for the 720 BE's to be in stock before I order one. No joy!

BTW I'm not blaming Skookum for my country's Postal Service.
I would suggest that they include expedited delivery for preorders, because this is really taking a lot of the fun out of getting one "early".

I guess it is going to be a duller weekend for both of us.

I'm not going to go off the reservation or anything, but I am disappointed.

I just hope next weekend has decent weather.

FYI, I did get a reply from their marketing manager saying that they would look at other shipping options in the future.

Default Dull Weekend

Been waiting for over 2 years, 1 more week will not kill me ( I hope)
Besides, its going in a Trex 550 Scale Jet Ranger, so I still have a ton of things to figure out.
I was glad to see the revised GPS manual, it answered a lot of questions I had.

Hi Guys,

If you want to be really safe, you could send us a few things to check over before trying GPS control:

1) A photo of the GPS and SK720 mounted on the heli
2) A short vibration flight log in hover
3) A short playback-mode flight log, after the compass swing, in manual mode.

I will be checking the info AT skookumrobotics.com email over the weekend each evening after 9pm pacific time.

One warning re the rescue mode: After a few seconds it times out into position hold mode. If you descend very quickly, this may happen right about when it comes to a stop. If the collective stick was down it will then go into a slow descent. We'll be adjusting the way it times out in the next rev, but it's just something to be aware of.

I will give it a try this weekend if the weather permits it. I first have to move some servo wires.

Default GPS test flights yet?

I know Jeff is planning to do some tests Saturday afternoon but is recovering from a cold. I should make sure I have the video camera charged up in case he makes it out.

My compass swing is finally ok, after two tries.
Charging batteries now. I hope to do the first hover tests in one or two hours.

Smile first flight with gps

Hello Folks, Here in Spain I received my gps yesterday and after some updating problems that were sorted out by skookum OK (well done Skookum Team) the software loaded up OK and I was able to set the gps up as per skookums instructions including the swing set-up.
Today I was able to fly with the gps activated and am happy to report everything is as it should be. Bit too windy here this morning to do a full test but will try later or tomorrow.
I must point out that the Skookum team provided excellent after sales service over the phone. Hopefully the wind will abate and I can do a full test.

Default SK-GPS tested

Hello fellow SK-GPS aficionados,
Managed to get five good flights in this afternoon in between gusty winds. The SK720 performed very well and the “Rescue Now” and the “Centre Stick” mode of the SK-GPS is a Godsend for flyers like me who want to advance from loops/rolls/stall turns etc. to beginning 3D. I only have one comment/something to lookout for. Vibration from spooling up. I have my esc set to slow start but it can be a bit jerky tripping the vibration alert and cancelling the self-level function. I am going to look further at the anti vibration mounting of the SK-720 and maybe use a more heavy metal plate similar to the one supplied with the SK-GPS. My machine is a Align 550 FBL c/w belt drive tail.
Well done Skookum.
