Default PL8 V2!question

I've had my PL8 for a few months now and I'm very happy with it; though I'm still trying to find my way around it a bit.

I mainly charge with a FMA board but I recently got a Trex 150 DFC. That led me to some challenges charging the batteries. I sill haven't figured out a way to charge the 150 batteries with my PL8. My work around has been to use my iCharger 206B to charge the 150 batteries, even that wasn't to straight forward. I had to hunt around and finally found some adapter wire to use the para board I had from my mCPX BL batteries.

This is what I'm using with the iCharger…

http://www.buddyrc.com/micro-paraboard-ph3.html I attach the 2S 150 batteries to this with JST-XH - UM adapters.

What I'd like to know is how can I use the BL (UM) para board that I have linked with my PL8. On the iCharger the ba
Ance lead simply plugs into the 2S balance port and the main banana plugs go into the main. The PL8 of course doesn't have a 2S balance port.

I tried plugging in the balance board that came with the PL8 into the charger using the supplied cable, the plugging the BL para board 2S balance port into the 2S port on the balance board with the banana plugs plugged into the Pl8. I tried that in both wiring modes; neither worked.

I also tried using just the balance board connected to the charger and charging a single 2S battery through the balance port on the board that didn't work on either wiring mode.

There has to be a way I can get theses batteries to charge using the PL8, any ideas?

Thats one reason I sold my FMA.. non-standard connectors. I use this for 130x/MCPX BL lipos and you could chop off the balance tap and put on new one?

Pick up some of the FMA pigtails and some heat shrink and will be good to go.

What you will find over time is the FMA connector is much better connector for hobby use. It has a thumb clip which allows you to disconnect the connector without tugging on the wires. The FMA connector is considerably smaller than a comparable JST-XH connector. The 8s FMA connector is about the same size as the JST-XH 6s connector.

Also the FMA connector does not need to be cut/trimmed to work with the charger like you have to do with the iChargers. While not difficult, neither is soldering 3 wires and in the end you have a connector which is more durable and easier to use.

Thanks for this. I have a extra connector, I just need the XH connector and I know where to get that.

Would I then use the small lipo profile? Also, will the storage profile work with this setup?

The small LiPo preset would be a good choice for charging up to 2 amps. If you are charging six of them in parallel, you can easily go over 2 amps. A 3c charge rate on six cells would be 4.5 amps. You can use the accurate charge or fast charge preset when charging over 2 amps.
