I could blow the tail out with a Mini V before I flipped the grips. All it takes is a funnel.

Ugh I want FBL setup I just cant justify the cost for it yet. Cost almost as much as the entire heli kit its self. Is there a good Budget friendly fbl setup that isnt bad?

Really depends on how your fit for servos. As a new set strong and fast enough will run another $100 easy. It's tough to justify upgrading an existing one, but you really aren't spending much more if build it from nothing.

I recently converted an EXI-Align Franken 450 pro over to a 3GX with some Savox-0257's and it wasn't too bad as I wanted to upgrade my EXI servos and wanted an align head and a better tail gyro so it only ended up costing me like $50 more

Not really. The 450 is one of the hardest to really get right on FBL so needs good components.
Mine
(3) MKS DS-95 = $300
(1) Mini V = $350
(1) FBL Head=$90

Not sure where those prices came from but you can get the DS95's for $225 for 3 from helidirect (or anywhere else). You can go with a microbeast which is awesome and easy to set up especially on the 450 for $200, and $90 is about right for the FBL head.

You can actually get the DS92's for $47/each which are the same servo as the 95's with a plastic case vs aluminum. Still the cost of a new 3GX kit itself almost.

when the DS95's first came out they were even cheaper, I think around $57/servo? now they are up to $75 which in my opinion is over priced. They are GREAT servos but they are more expensive than the DS610 servos I have in my 700's!

Yea the DS95's transformed the heli, they are so fast they allow the Vbar to correct it very fast. The thing is more stable than my 700E.
debating on trying the DS95i in lieu of a JR 3500G

If you're looking for a budget head you could take your chances with the Tarot 450 FBL head for under $30. A talented, experience pilot I fly with has been disappointed with the crash durability and slight head wobble/phasing issues with the Align head and the separate swash driver. The Tarot has the driver built into the rotor head.

I already have the DS95s and plan on trying to keep the budget reasonable with a Beast X and Tarot head.

I am setting up the RJX head on my 450 with a 3gx. Do the swash driver arms need to be perpedicular the main shaft at mid stick? I had to move the swash up quite a bit to get close to being perpendicular but I am starting to run out of thead on the servo to swash links when the servo arms are at 90. I am using the top hole to secure the head so it is sitting as low as possible on the shaft. What are the effects of not being perpendicular with the driver arms? Logically, it seems it would not make any difference as all they do is turn the swash and have no influence on the pitch of the blades (is this the case?) but I note they are perpendicular on my 550 with the links set as per the manual.

Also I leveled the swash and adjusted the swash to grip links to get 0 pitch at mid stick. I am currently about a half turn from zero and can't get it exact. Is it okay to subtrim the servos equally down a few clicks (i.e. no longer at 90) so I get zero pitch accurately? The 'full turn' resolution on the servo to swash links is not fine enough to adjust this mechanically (as per the problem with the swash to grip links).

I just upgraded my pro to FBL. I had an extra 3G unit that I removed from my 550 and decided to use it in my 450. So far I like it. It does seem a lot more snappy and has more pop. Nothing fancy really. Waiting on some FBL blades.

Setup:
Stock motor/esc
Inno-lab 202 on cyclic
ds520 on tail
CC 10 amp BEC
Align 3g v2.1
Turnigy 2200 3s
V2 Align FBL head

Hi, may I ask where is the BEC connected to ? Does it go to the receiver or the Align 3g unit ? I also think about using a separate BEC for my 450 Pro; but I use BeastX not Align 3g.

Thanks,

The BEC goes into the rx. There are no open ports on a 3G.

Here's my setup:

Tarot frame
Tarot FBL head
HobbyWing Platinum 40A ESC + CC Bec 10
Turnigy 2215H 3550 kV (will upgrade the motor soon, this one's a bit weak, maybe I'll even go with Scorpion 2221-2010 V2, but batteries are pricey then...)
MKS DS92 on cyclics
MKS 8910 on tail
MicroBeast V3

After flying my new 500 pro 3gx, I want to convert my 450 pro to Flybarless. Can you guys tell me if my stock Servos DS410M x3 and DS520 x1, ESC and motor are ok to use? I’m pretty sure I will go with a 3gx unit. And what Head would you guys recommend using?
Thanks
