Default Cellpro 10XP - ch1 has no pack error

Hi,

Just trying to work out what is going on with my 10xp charger.
I tried to charge a pack on it today, and it came gave me a "Ch1 has no pack error."
I am using it with a 3S pack, and the FMA balance boards. I have tried the pack on my 10S charger with the same board, and the battery charges fine.

I have confirmed that the charger is set to FMA node wiring. I also have continuity through the 2 yellow plugs. Does this mean it has broken, or am I overlooking something?

Hi:

If you have the pigtail from the adapter plugged into channel 2, remove it, and then try with just the pigtail that normally goes into channel 1. 10XP reads the balance connectors differently from the older 10s.

Did that work?

Tim,

Thanks for the quick response.
The pig tail is only connected in Ch1. A picture below:

I had the same exact error on my PL6 when I tried it for the first time while the packs would charge fine on my 10s. Turned out I needed to change the default FMA node wiring in the setup to the XH/EH, which is what all my packs are. As Tim said, 10s expects more common generic balance connector pinout, while the newer chargers default to FMA wiring, so unless you're using FMA packs you'll need to change this setting.

Hi:

One caveat to what you said. You'll set it for FMA WIRING MODE when:

1) you are plugging in Cellpro configured packs direclty
2) you are using other brands of batteries, but you are still using the standard REVO adapters like shown in the photo in post #3

You'll only use XH WIRING MODE if you have a JST XH compatible battery and you have made up your own adapter configured per the user guide, or you are using the MPA or the SPA adapters.

Hi:

If non of the suggestions have gotten you going, phone Howard Matos next week. He'll help you troubleshoot and/or check your adapter. If you have a DVM, have it ready when you call.

Thanks Tim.
The same battery and adapter work on my 10S, so I am guessing there is an issue with the charger. I bought the charger in the UK, so I guess I need to look at returning it?

I bought it in March, 2012.

Hi:

Get a hold of a DVM. Then check for all the correct cell voltages at the adapter's pigtail and also your pack +/-. You're probably on the right path, but seems with a little effort, you could be 100% certain it's not a battery-related issue like dirty contacts of bad soldering somewhere.

I have just checked all 4 of my adapter boards, and get the expected 4.something volts + an additional 4v as I work up the pigtails, right up to a 6S. So, it looks like it's definitely the charger.

I have tried multiple packs, on different adapters, each with the same result on the 10XP, and all work on the 10S.

Glad I bought my PL8 now, as I don't like waiting ages while I charge my 6s batteries.

Hi,

Please return the charger to the place of purchase for an exchange. This one will have to come back for diagnosis. Not sure what the problem is here. Thanks.

Thanks for the help troubleshooting guys.
It's nice to see the company taking time to resolve issues.

I believe this charger has been returned to you a while ago.
Is there any news?

Fortunately it's not my only charger, but I would be interested in an update.

Three months on, and it seems like the distributor was at fault for the delays.
My original vendor has been chasing this up recently, and has finally got hold of the boss, so if I am lucky, this will finally be resolved soon.
