Default Hmm Dont think I can afford to part with the 550

So, in the spirit of the other thread "Time to part" I thought I would consider doing the same for mine ...

however.... when i tallied up all the "spares" that I had (BRAND NEW IN PACKETS)
- I got a rude shock!! See attached PDF.

Then ... adding all the "used" but still ok spares, plus the multiple airframes and electronics (non FBL .. so probably worthless most if it..)

Wholly cow!! some $$$ still tied up in the Hurricane and may as well rebuild it to FBL and fly it hard

Anyone else stuck with a hobby shop sized (lol!) spares collection ?

Well boys I guess all of us have some friends to turn to when supplies run low. I have very few spares but only fly once a week nonaggressive.

I noticed CNChelicopter still has a nice selection of Hurricane parts.

http://www.cnchelicopter.com/cnc-hurricane-550/

I also have a 522XL belt still sitting here. I believe its for a mid-boom Hurri. It looks almost new and free to anyone who wants it. Just shoot me a PM.

You managed to find the "wheres waldo" of the brushless motor world? Amazing.

Kavic....You may not believe this , but the motor is one I sold on a 550 I sold to Blade Scraper...he destroyed the heli but the motor survived...!

Weav01...I have been searching for weeks for a replacement for the Z20's...nothing yet but may have to experiment with a Turnigy....Or find someone who will rewind the stock 1100 motors.

Plenty of motor rewinders out there willing to lighten your wallet by a small multiple of 10.

I sent a Hyperion 3026 out to Dan@GoBrushless.com to be rewound. He does excellent work and his fees are quite reasonable.

Or you could simply make a thread in the Electric Motors Winding and Repair section, located here:

https://www.helifreak.com/forumdisplay.php?f=291

For my next rewind I think I'll ask GMauro if he could take on the job. I like the personalization artwork he does on the top of the motor can when hes finished.

You'll have to feed this one through google translate, which will chew up his native Italian and spit out a reasonable translation.

How many people have used X5 booms on a CF Frame or a Head Hunter Frame ?

Default Just my thoughts. . . . . . .

I too have a 550 that flies very well barred and have been thinking goin x4, x5, trex600 or hk600 all FBL but I want something pretty reliable and heading towards 6/8/12s. I also too have a footlocker of parts invested that I hardly use due to my flight record of not crashing. I have already converted a 450s to ZYXs FBL and built an hk450v2 ZYXS and have one more already programmed ZYXs to go onto something. I recently posted a vid of my barred 550 and said I was not going to tinker with it and enjoy as it is, but I have decided to go FBL and order the x5 head and grips. I am going this road because I already have a small fleet of 6 birds with parts including electronics. Can only fly one at a time lol!

So all in all I will be converting. . . . .not parting.
