The problem sometimes is that a certain motor or whatever gets a rave review from someone and everybody follows.

Hi Bob
I bought the helidirect frame for my trex se and assembled it about a month back. After checking with your vids, i realised that I made the right assumpitons about servo placement and use of horns. However, my horns still hit the frames at full negative with full aileron. It hits the frame at the cross member just above the main gear. Likewise, it also hits the "aileron" servo mount. What i did was to cut away the cross member and also dremeled the corner of the servo mount. Not sure if that would compromise the structure of the frame. Quite puzzled why ur build would clear the frame & servo mount. I'm using HS56s, ball on third hole, 2 sided hitec horn, with the standoffs grinded off. Getting +/- 11 degress pitch and everything seems setup right. |

Good catch! My video was to describe building this heli stock NOT modifying it.... This is what the forums are for Bob

I din catch the +/- 10 part in your vid. Too bad i was abit late in finding the inverted gyro mounting thread. I just busted my gyro case. Looking at the thread, it looks so easy to invert the gyro for this frame

No the guy in the video just donest have good collective management...yet...no but seriously that motor really had no power, if you guys want the top right now the align 430L is probably ht ebest but the new hacker isnt bad but flys very heavy and a bit on the pricy side. I'd day spend the $49.99 on the 430L and you'll never out grow it.

Well, I've got mine flying yesterday after recieving the Hitec 65'and Airtronics tailservo.
WOW! This bird is really rocksolid! On the ground as well as in the air! Thanks to your video's I have it setup the way its supposed to be Bob. Only difference is I put in the Align 430/3550kv and the Align 35X ESC. Plenty of Power! :glasses2:

Outstanding work Bob!
Instructions on the side of the box, ermmm lol. Saved by Bob's vids I have a question about the main gear though. It rubs on the tail output shaft, maybe for about 3 or 4mm then clears with about 2mm gap. Would you say that possibly the gear is slightly out of round or would you think the main shaft might be out? One more...does the Trex main gear fit if I have to replace mine? Thanks heaps Bob

Hmmmm Mine does not rub. It is CLOSE but does not rub. Do your frames have the tab slots for the tail bearing blocks to lock in? I hear some frames do not.... If not maybe you can adjust the bearing bloacks back a bit? If they do have the slots then sounds like a gear issue. YES the Align gears will work just fine. Bob

Mine came with the tabs. I decided to go ahead and fix it myself since it seems I would not be able to receive an exact replacement part. Will be interesting to find out the current bill of material part.

Finless, I just finished installing and setting up my servos per your video. I installed HS-65 servos (mounted using the center hole in the servo block with the pan head screw) using the supplied single arm horn with the ball on the second hole. I had a hard interference/contact problem on the elevator servo with the horn hitting the tail drive gear. I ended up trimming the servo horn with scissors to get the clearance I needed. Did you experience this when with your servo horns? :?:
By the way, I am very grateful for your time and effort in shooting these videos. Nice to have verbal and visual build instructions especially when there is zippo, nada, sans, keine, no, nothing written with the kit. :!: |

Hi all,
i'm new here, but i manage to built the HDX without a single instruction leaflet that comes with the kit. I mean there is none. Somehow from the picture on the box and a few sleepless nights manage to get it through.... Flown the bird few days back and to my supprise not a single click of trims required for hovering. But this baby will pick-up speed rather rapidly.... Anyway i would like to thank Bob for his contribution on those building-up videos for Trex, and if anyone noticed the reverse direction of tail slider between Trex and the HDX for the correct gyro gain correction? Umran.
