Default Perfect pinion for 4S 3025-10

OK guys, I got some pinions to test and all I got to say is SWEET!

So you all know with the Hirobo 24T the 3025-10 gave too high a head speed at 100% throttle. Most of us were runnign 85% throttle. Well I am going to tell you WHAT A DIFFERENCE 1 tooth makes!

We tested a 23T and 22T pinion today on 4S with the 3025-10 mtotor. The 23T pinion and 100% throttle FLAT gave 3010 head speed... WOW is all i can say... Motor temps were NOTHING and ESC was ambient (this was a CC ESC). A 22T gave 2800 head speed and again motor temps were NOTHING and ESC was very happy. Those wanting a lower head speed in the 28's will want a 22T pinion!

In my opinion, 23T is the SWEET spot for the 3025-10 motor.

More testing to come with other motors and also 5S. We should be able to get the 3025-12 on 5S and find the right pinion this weekend so stay tuned!

Bob

The helidirect one is brass and I think the ones Bob is using are hardened aluminum which is what I would rather run. I guess the brass one would be OK, but I know the aluminum ones would be good to go for sure.

Bob, if we can lower the HS down with24T by reducing the throttle curve, what advantages does the 23T give us - just a question, as I am no electric expert,
Thanks,
Also, are you going to move to 5S permanantly,
Thanks,
Jeff

When the speed controller is limiting voltage it does this with resistance,
pumping amps through resistance makes heat - in the speed controller

Also need to get the motor into it's efficient zone,
as the motor temperature has dramatically decreased on 22/23 T
one would assume it's much happier now

Using lower gearing may reduce the current we draw,
thus giving the battery and easier ride (very important)
and also means we bog less (that doesn't happen to the Lepton often)

Guys a buddy of mine Jason out at the field has now been running the 23T pinion for 15+ flights. He is LOVING it! 3000 head speed with 100% flat curves. Motor and ESC come down only 10 degrees above AMBIENT! 700ma less from the packs than with the 24T pinion same flight time.

Again this appears to be the pinion for those wanting high head speeds with good efficiency on the 3025-10 motor on 4S. He is using a CC85 ESC non-gov mode.

BTW, test a 22T and head speed was a tad above 2800 so 22T will also be good for those wanting a little tamer head speed.

Bob, the thread doesn't seem clear - where can I get a 23T pinion for the Hyperion 3025-10,
Also, if heads speeds are up around 3000 and getting better efficiency with battery - could this be a cheaper alternative to going to 5S - also sounds like we could get almost another 1 minute of flight time,
Thanks,
Jeff

You cant get the pinions yet.... AdrianM here on Helifreak will have them soon.

While this is a GREAT setup for the Lepton on 4S, 5S is totally bullistic! Personally I think 4S is a very good setup and most folks and most will be very happy with it. 5S is for "power" freaks that want so much power it is almost SCARY.... 5S was beyond what I needed but it was still fun However I am going to say there is nothing you cant do with a good 4S setup that requires 5S. 5S is a pure "Croch Rocket" of a heli so if thats what you like then go for it!

Thanks,
Jeff
