Never did the mod that way (i placed my servos inside the heli) but the original way was with the e325 servo mounts and never heard any complaints.

The reason i opted to go with the internal servo mod is you get a better direct straight line to the swash whereas with the servo mounts you still have a little angle.

Dierwolf is right

I Made my own servo mounts to get the position just right and it works great, but having the servo's in the middle of the frame is a better layout. Not sure weather moving the front
servo is really worth it as the original link is very good and pretty free from play

All the bes Ian

I must have had a friday afternoon Belt, as the pitch servo linkages were really sloppy, and I really couldn't do anything about it!!!! The DTS mod is a good one and I can't wait to get my bird in the air again.

Default super chicken dance...

So on friday I received my carbon frame and all the CNC bearing blocks...cool stuff. I spent saturday and sunday putting it together and adding the DTS mod. i did alot of measuring and trial and error stuff and finally went with the E325 servo mounts. With the extra real estate on the carbon frame (there's no cutouts like in the plastic frame) it allowed me to mount the servo mounts where ever I wanted, therefore allowing for a very precise and perfect 90 degree mount to the swash. It turned out pretty awesome.
after 2 days of working on it, leveling the swash and checking the radio I noticed that most of my servos were reversed from the plastic frame setup...no problem, I'll just reverse them in the radio...

As I was in the carport getting ready to spin it up and check the blade tracking I plugged the motor leads back in and for some reason the motor never kicked on as I was moving the collective...hmm...weird . Well, I thought I would unplug and replug the battery and let the ESC re-initialize. Brilliant! it worked! and as soon as it beeped 3 times it spun up at FULL THROTTLE! Just as a small note in case this wasn't completely obvious to everyone...the heli really doesn't like going from 0 to 3000 RPM instantly!

So somewhere in my infinite wisdom I reversed the throttle so at bottom stick it was full throttle and at top stick it was at zero throttle. Now I have to replace the main gear (the current one is perfectly smooth all the way around), the spindle, and possibly the main shaft.

Oh well, live and learn. next time I will back the motor away from the main gear to verify proper operation after a major configuration change.

finally finished the DTS mod with the carbon frame.

moving the elevator servo allowed room to mount the battery on the receiver tray, therefore giving the heli much better roll characteristics.

this is my first time posting pictures so I'm not sure how they will turn out.

hovered it in the carport (thats when I found out my gyro was upside-down...moved it and it works fine now) but the weather was crappy yesterday (kinda weird for hawaii). I hope to fly today after work.

just while hovering I did notice that it seems to be more responsive and it definately is less 'sloppy', meaning it could hold a no-stick hover for alot longer than before the mod.

Mike, I definately agree the Belt looks pretty sweet with the DTS mod.

my friend, who flies a Trex 450 and 500, was over last night and commented, "it's starting to look like a real heli now!"

Looks lovely that! You just need to get rid of that fibreglass canopy mount with the trex 450 metal ones! I think i will get those servo mounts and do this to mine

lookin' pretty sweet!

I like how you used the extra piece of plastic to bridge the area that needs removed for the servos.

Well, I used your design initially, Erwin, and yesterday modded what I had done to get greater servo arm moment. It handles so much better than before the DTS mod.

Default Newbie with a couple of questions...

Hi, I have the stock BeltCP and it appears that after a crash the elevator servo is damaged - other items have already been fixed/replaced (blades, feathering shaft, flybar holder, boom) - anyway, all servos seemed to be functional but I was having trouble getting things re-trimmed and now I'm not getting any activity from the servo at all. What advantages to replacing with different servos than stock ESky but staying with the stock Tx and Rx? Recommendations on brands?
I haven't done any mods before and that raises the question about difficulties and advantages there are in the DTS mods. Realizing that there is a part of this hobby that is involved with tinkering and mods... I still would like to learn to fly first so I think the best plan for me at this point is to get things up and running ASAP.
Suggestions? Advice?
Has anyone put together a complete 'tune it up before you try to fly it' set of instructions... like a 'BeltCP for Dummies' book?
Thanks,
D
