Missed that... Than it would be around the pro weight. Give or take 10 grams here and there. (pro was with mini vbar so that could have saved some weight)

hmm that would be nice So given the electronics the protos 450 would be at 680?
Pro was with normal 3S2200 packs around 180-200 grams.

Six months is a very long time to wait. I was hoping for the spring 2010.
But is better to wait, than to have unfinished products.
And 600g of weight is great.

100g is a world in this class!! 1g is about 1s flightime at same power! If you use the power, the new Protos will be >10% stronger at same flighttime!

I too would really like to see it as a 350m 4s bird. I think that is the perfect combo.

Yes 4s would be nice,I was thinking for 6s for long flight time and low amp use.I m sure it will be possible to use 350 because of the width of the tailboom!

My Pro is 675 gr , and with a 3s 2200 35c Vx Hyp it's 870gr. So 75 gr saving on Protos 450.

With new gen packs like TP45C, 3S is perfectly fine and if this is as Corrado says 100G lighter then Pro then certainly no need for 4S.

I to would like to hear if this will be capable of 350mm blades, also if right out of the chute it would be nice to see a flybarless kit as well, I have no intention of a flybar.

4S cells can be used with lower C-rating and lower capacity! So the weight of the LiPo-pack will remain more or less the same... Ampdraw, and so the lifetime of the battery will improve under 4S!
Especially with 350mm blades, 3S can get its problems - believe a Zoom 450 pilot (using 350mm blades)!

That is both true and untrue. You have to back up and look at total energy stored and total energy needed. For a regular325mm bladed 450 you would use a 3s 2200 25C pack. That equates to 24.5Wh at nominal voltage. So the equivelent 4s pack in terms of weight, output and energy capacity is a 4s 1650 25C pack. Moving to this pack would raise the voltage and drop the capacity but have the same Wh. The 25C rating would need to be the same on both. Similarly the stress on the packs will be the same using either of them. To lessen the stress on the 4s pack you would need to raise one of the other numbers, capacity or C-rating.

Now if you lengthen the blades to 350mm, then things change. You will be raising the wattage needed to fly and that will both raise the current needed and the total energy used during the flight. A 24.5Wh pack will no longer be sufficient. A larger pack is now required to maintain the same flight time and capability. That will add weight.

Here are my suggestions, I've built flown and owned practically every 450 on the market.

Here is what I think a 450 should be:

Cheap
easy to build and repair
durable
low parts count
able to use any popular equipment/motor/blades/battery

I have larger and much more expensive machines to fly 3D on. Myself and many other pilots use 450's to get a quick flight in at lunch, fly at parks and such, or to practice 3D. I want to be able to pickup a heli in this class, throw it against a brick wall and only need to replace a 30 cent part. This is far more valuable to me then flight performance or "innovation". That's why the Trex helis are so great and practically own the market. They are super durable with cheap and plentiful parts. I can take my pro and throw it against a brick wall and I will more then likely not need to replace anything. Take a Rave and apply the same brick wall and lets just say I've got better things to spend 300 bucks on.

Just my 2 cents. I personally hate the 450 class, it's a necessary evil if you want to learn 3D and continue making things like house and car payments.

Too true, Ping! Or, as a friend of mine put it, "The 450 helis are both too big and too small at the same time." Too big because you can't really fly them in a small area, close-in like you can something like the LAHeli Ricco (or a Trex 250 I guess). And too small because they are the size of a soda can and go 60mph!

That said, I'll probably still end up with one of these.
