SK720BE on Gasser anyone? Bailout
Has anyone successfully installed the 720BE and had bailout working properly on Gasser helicopter?
I had a bad experience with the blue edition about 2 years ago where I was just trying out the Bailout function while hovering about 40ft. 1st try worked and on the second try while still hovering my T600 just banked real hard to the left and nosed down to the ground,.... I'm giving it another chance maybe just to use it as a vibration diagnosis tool. Does the 720BE disable the bailout properly now unlike the blue? |

a BE on a gasser, yes I've tried, vibrations levels are too high. Perhaps if you have a balanced engine, low rpm you could get away with it.
I tested it on a goblin gasser, trm300tt engine for a week before I gave up. I love the Skookum, but on a gasser go with an alternative fbl that is known to handle the vibrations. You'll loose the flight performance of the Skookum but retain the self leveling or rescue feature. Or skip the self leveling, hard mount the Skookum and have great flight performance. |

So it really going to be one or the other then.
I'll put it in an electric then. Has the 720be been accurately disabling the bailout when it senses the high vibes? I know by experience that the blue edition did not disable the bailout on my t600 when it had the bad vibes. And the logs didn't even show me what happend. |

I've run the blue and I've run the black, both for years and 100's of flights each on various helicopters and if the 720 see's vibes the green led changes so it alternates between green/red. When the led is green/red the bailout doesn't/won't work. I've never experienced anything in between. Unless there was a set up issue. Perhaps the Blue had issues way back when but it's been so long I've forgotten.
The Black, when vibs are high won't self level period. It's best practice not to find out that way though. Better to fix a green/red led when you first see it and look at the vib graph to determine where the problem originates. |

That's good to know that at least the bailout wouldn't arm if there is a bad vibes.
I had to find out the hard way on my blue. Cool! thanks for the info, gives me some confidence to try it on a bigger heli. I'll go with a 450 first though. |

I have only used a 540 on a gasser. With the rougher running engine i wouldn't want to test the bailout on a gasser.
