Default Head Block Question

I was doing the tear down and repairs from my last crash.

I found that the Upper Jesus bolt in the Head block got sheared, so I swapped it out with a spare I had. I noticed there was some slop in the head on rotation, i.e. the head block rotates a small amount with the main shaft held still.

I did swap the main shaft out and still had the slop. Is this normal? Im planning on replacing it but I thought I would ask here.

Thanks

Yes a very small amount of play is normal.

I really like the design on the Lynx head because it clamps down on the shaft in addition to the jesus bolt. The screws that secure the follower arms act to clamp the head down on the shaft so there is no play. I wish they would come out with something similar for the 450X.

Thanks for the information!

I was looking at blinging out the head with the lynx set up.

So you tighten down the bolts until the full gap is gone? I just installed the Lynx head on mine but scared of stripping out the head ( like happened on my stock plastic head) I just snug the screws down evenly as i could by tighten one a lil then the other a lil and back and forth.
as far as I know the play on mine is coming from the bottom bolt on the main gear.
I think Blade drill the holes in the shafts a lil to big for the bolts they use.

I like the Lynx head other then the top doesn't seem to be tap for the head button, I know they don't supply one was thinking could put my stock one on.

You tighten down the bolts until it clamps down on the shaft. I don't think you need to fully close the gaps in the head itself. Try it....remove the upper jesus bolt and see if you can pull the head off the shaft.

This discussion was about play in the head assembly which the OP described clearly. Whether or not slop can exist at the lower jesus bolt is out of scope for this discussion.
