Default 8 blinks and a failed auto. jive 100lv

Flying on sunday morning I ran one pack through my goblin 500 with no problems. Things seemed a bit warm so I parked it and flew 3 packs through my 380.

30-45 seconds into 2nd flight on the 500 about 30 ft up doing a funnel power turned off, no motor but everything else responded i got it upright and tried my best to auto down but i had already killed off my head speed so I hit pretty hard. The battery was still plugged in and I counted the blinks 8,

The heli is new to me ive put about 10 flights on it with no issues. previous owner has been nothing but helpfull and says he never had an issue.

about 80* F outside
jive 100lv -13, mode 4, 64% throttle flat
quantum 1200kv motor
stock pinion 19t i think
bd3sx

im not a great pilot some mild 3d and my collective management has a bit to be desired

what are some things check after I rebuild?

Would a optigaurd or something else have saved me or would a successful auto have been my only answer?(I probably know the answer)

Also I see people have logs from these esc's what do i need to do this?

Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated Im not blaming the ESC this isn't about bashing or blaming any part of the heli I am just trying to learn so i can avoid this in the future

I can accept when my lack of skills cause a crash mechanical failure just really bums me out.
Thanks in advance!

8 blinks is an over current shut down (page 22 of the manual). I don't remember on the goblin 500 if it has room for the heatsink but you could try that it will increase the amp load of the controller. or reduce the amount of collective pitch.

Important to know is: 8 blinks means emergency cutout. This is done by a trigger, an extra piece of hardware, outside and independent of the processor (software).

There must be a reason.. sync loss (commutation failure). Bearings without play? Magnets still in place?

so a possible motor failure? or something bound up and caused it? so check bearings, could someone point me in the direction of what to look for in the motor?
