Default Mezon ESC Logging?

Is the logging for the Mezon ESC automatic like a Castle ESC? With Castle you set how many samples per second, download, review and save, then clear the ESC. Is the Mezon similar?

I'll find out soon enough-- the new Jeti shipment landed and I just ordered a Mezon 130.

I'm going to run a Scorpion backup guard with it. The Mezon BEC will be set to 6V, the Scorpion (when active) outputs 5V. I'll set the TX telemetry alarm for RX voltage at 5.5V that way if the Mezon BEC fails and the backup guard takes over the RX voltage voice alert will notify me immediately.

Zb has indicated Jeti is coming up with their own "backup guard" like device. I guess we'll see how it differs from the Scorpion solution when it's released.

Default Mezon ESC Logging?

Great idea on the alarm. I'll setup the same thing for monitoring backup guard!

Quick question: what was your thinking on the 120 vs 130? The ESC specs say they are good for 120 and 130A continuous, respectively. I fly my TDR for 6 minutes on 80% of a 5000mAh 12S pack which works out to around 40A average which agrees with my onboard logger. Peaks, of course, can be well over 100A. I'm wondering about your thoughts on the almost 50% increase in price for an additional 10A. Also, I noticed that only the "non-opto" are in stock. Any concerns there?

Thanks in advance!

Brent, the 120 is a low voltage (8S max) ESC, the 130 is a high voltage (12S max) ESC. That's the reason for the large price difference.

That's also why the seemingly high amperage Mezon 165 is relatively inexpensive, it's also a low voltage ESC.

Same here... 120 is only 8s... I need 12S for my setup.

Thanks! I missed that. What about the lack of optical isolation and when do you think the 115 and 135 optos will be available?

Still curious about the logging question.

I purchased a Mezon 130 because of the built in BEC. The Mezon 135 Opto doesn't have a BEC.

I was initially planning on using a 135 Opto and using my current WR G2 Mini BEC but Danny has said the Mezon internal BECs have been very reliable in testing so I decided to simplify wiring on my Goblin and go for the 130. This way I can replace my current YGE160, MUI200 sensor, and Hercules G2 Mini BEC with just the Mezon 130 and the Scorpion backup guard. It saves quite a bit of wiring and eliminates a few connectors.

I'm using the Scorpion backup guard "just in case" as the Mezon ESC's are new to the market don't have a proven reliability record like say the Kontronik BECs.

I'm not sure when the 135 Opto will be back in stock, you'll have to check with Esprit. They did receive a sizable shipment from Jeti today.

Danny explained to me a bit how the governor mode on the Mezon works; you specify the minimum and maximum governed RPM range in the Jetibox and then use your throttle curves as normal to lock in the headspeed. With a Profibox or a DC16/DS16 the Mezon provides RPM telemetry (you specify pole count and gear ratio) so dialing in your exact headspeed will be an easy task. You can also easily tweak governor gains, BEC voltage, and other parameters from the Jetibox or the DC/DS16.

The Mezon also now has an autorotataion "bailout" mode with a bailout window around 1.2-1.3ms of signal input. It has two spoolup rate settings; one for initial spoolup and one for bailout spoolup. It also offers an external governor mode and the new batch of Mezons have a built in phase sensor for RPM output to an external govenor (like Vbar.)

The Mezon logs min/max values but not the entire data stream. For that it needs to be communicating to a DC/DS-16 or a Profi Box.

Ok. So if the Profi is set to record the info you'll get the whole data stream? Is that what you mean?

With sensor logging enabled the DC/DS will save a continuous log file of all the telemetry parameters to the SD card. Not sure about a Profibox. I'm not sure what the refresh rate is of the telemetry stream, I've seen the logging option on my DC16 but I haven't used it yet.

No removable SD Card on the Profi box. Just wish there were clear instructions listed somewhere so I could read up in it...

When you want to look at the telemetry data you just connect the Profi to the PC via USB cable.
Then run the Jeti application (can't remember it's name).
It is also charged through the USB cable so that works out well.

Or you can hook up the DC-16 directly to the PC via USB and run the program Flight Monitor.
