Exclamation Problem with my 500 any ideas?

I have a trex 500 with all new electronics. While in a low hover my receiver turns light goes off. It also goes off with the second mini receiver. When the lights go off the heli loses all power and cuts the motor and the servos. I have a DX7 radio. I took the wiring apart no nicks or loose connections anywhere. I am running the Ar7000 reciever. And I am running the stock align speed controller and bec to run the servos. I've tried two different battery packs. I will be trying a ar6000 reciever tommorow. I have rebound the radio and range checked it. Both packs were fully charged at the time it cuts out. I am running 6volts to the servos. It is a momentary cutout but the heli goes dead for a second enough to touch down and almost roll over. Speed controller or radio or receiver any ideas? thanks in advance.

When you first plug in the battery the RX lights up? But your saying if you spool up and hover then go to land the RX shuts down?

No everything initializes just right. But about 3 minutes into hovering it cuts out. After the third time I noticed that the lights on the receivers were going out just as it quits.

I would remove the blades the next time you test them again, until you know it's not cutting out anymore.

I did that too. And even with the blades off running a good headspeed after about 2-3 minutes it starts cutting out.

Someone recently had a similar problem. It ended up being a bad solder. It can do no harm to resolder the deans. SInce you say it happened on two packs I would resolder the deans on the ESC and try that first.

What I think it something is drawing too many amps on the BEC and causing it to shut down. Make sure you don't have any servos binding as this can do that.
You could have a bad servo doing this so you might try unplugging one at a time to see.
Then it could just be a bad ESC and the BEC is having a problem.

The RX shutting off is a low power to the RX issue.

Do you know anyone with a data recorder? This sounds like it would be a good test case for the ESC/DX7 issue.

Does the heat sink on the ESC feel hot? THe BEC is right below the heat sink and if the BEC is getting hot you will feel it.

Resolder at ESC and eliminate that as the problem. You have to start somewhere.

OK guys today I flew 3 batteries, no cutouts. Beleive it or not I changed receivers from the ar7000 to the ar6000. Tommorow I will reinstall the other receiver again, refly and then if it comes back I can feel safe to say it was the new receiver. Then off to the LHS and plead my case against the new receiver i got with the new DX7 that I bought for this heli. Thanks for all the help.

I was getting ready to tell you to replace the rx. I had a similar problem with a 6200 and confirmed the problem with Horizon.

Glad you figured it out. A freind was going through same grief with a Spektrum 6200, however it was not in the end the receiver. It was static from the belt and dry weather combintation, making it shut down momentarily. A quick coating of Graphit 33 on the belt, no issues now.

I have had 2 bad Spektrum Rxes. An AR6200 that wouldn't bind and an AR6100 that stopped working while I was testing the re-link speed.

Horizon shipped a new AR6200 to replace the bad one. I haven't gotten anything back on the AR6100. So right now, I am running 1 out of 10 defective out of the package. But Horizon takes care of things, fast.
