Default Arb Question - Short CP-II Pigtails

I've just re-set-up my 450 bird after an unscheduled meeting with the top of a Blue-Gum (Eucalyptus) tree. I'm not very happy with the rats-nest of wires that ensues around the RX and CP-II unit.

The most obvious place to mount the CP-II is under the RX as there are 4 connections between the 2. However, those long-stiff CP-II pigtails defy all attempts at neatening-up. I eventually bundled them up and threw some fat shrink-wrap around the lot, but even that is still less than elegant.

I'm sorely tempted to remove them all and solder-in a piece of ribbon cable in their place.

Who's got good ideas for sorting these out? Should we petition Revolectrix to supply CP-II with 1 inch pigtails? Or, am I just mad.

One size doesn't fit all....... the larger heli owners want longer leads while smaller class need shorter

Only if you want to mount your RX and CP-II in different locations. Maybe allow us the opion of short leads, or allow us to cut the leads to length without a waranty penalty.

Thats what I was looking for - pictures of placements on a 450. However, the placement of your receiver under the canopy along with the high-voltage stuff is somewhat unusual.

Here's a pic of my CP-II on my 450.

and the rats nest.

Night, two questions:
  1. Isn't your main sensor in the boom strike zone? Asking, because after heeding your advise moved it myself closer to the main body on 4 helis...
  2. What fbl controller are you using there that you still keep your GY401 on the tail? Or is this an experiment to use CP2 as fbl controller? A beta firmware, perhaps?????

Answer to #1, Yes it was.. this was an experiment I was testing out a long time back.

Answer to #2, No FBL controller, no beta firmware, Just me doing what I do naturally.

How did it go on #2? On the pictures where your 450 actually flies it still has a flybar... So you have used a CP2 as a fbl controller, meaning you need it on all the time, not just for the bailout. Has it worked?

It works but not as well as any FBL on the market.. Though CPII and FBL has been a great success

For other grand adventures you'll need to visit "The Lab " @ Castle East
