Calc says 2400 rpm on the scorpion with a 10 tooth, 3500 on the stock motor and 10 tooth.

You need a 13 or 14 tooth to get close to stock headspeed, which will kill the motors torque quite a bit.

It's even worse than that, stock is 4600Kv!

Well, you bought the wrong 2208 motor.

The 2208-24 with a 12 pinion works fine with the stock ESC.

But if you want more (together with new ESC) try the 2213-14.

Those are 3590 kv motors, so plug in all the values and see if a 12 tooth pinion will produce the same rpm as stock. Those shafts are 3.17mm so I guess people are using the Align 450 pinions

The mail girl brought me these things today... I can't wait to try them out.

Also got an IKON flybarless unit and a used 300X to drop these in.

You finding the wicked motor is a great find...
I just bench tested the motor with a 5 blade EDF fan and it pulled 28 amps, temps 130*F max so far. I can already tell this is going to be "the" motor and the best motor upgrade option for the 300X as "bang for the buck" It's definitely more powerful, has better bearings, balanced perfectly, and higher quality for less than the factory e-flite 320.

This motor will be nice to see in your arsenal of the niche quality parts that you already sell...

Seeing is believing!

Here you can see how evenly and uniformly the stator is wrapped in comparison to the e-flite motor

More wire, longer stator

Larger better quality bearings

s
Stronger magnets

It's a little gem!

+1 to this. I'm more excited about this motor for my 300x than the BL nano. Don't get me wrong, Dylan shipped to me today one of the mild Nano kits, too, and I'm sure ill fly the crap out of it after I get NCCraig to work his magic on it. i just think I'm more excited about the Wicked motor given how much I've been flying the 300 since installing the 10T governed stock setup.

Thanks for these updates, Dylan. Best of luck getting some sleep with all that work you're doing on the Nano conversions and other stuff.

Dylan,

Do you think you will be putting together a brushless "kit" (mild) for the MCPX any time soon? im also after a wicked motor for the 300x to save on shipping costs but right now my mcpx is motorless :-( so it looks like i'll just have to be patient.

What's wrong with 4500kv

Add a bigger pinion and you might have a perfect balance of both torque and head speed, depending on the quality of the motor...

Although a higher kv rating might giver you higher head speed, you have to be sure that you don't sacrifice torque in the process.

Higher kv isn't always better...
