I used a piece of a cd case, just cut it out and heated it to bend and stuck it on with vel
velcro so it is easy to remove so I can get to sk 540 for adjustments

added a small pice of foam for a spacer for my batts

Finally complete. LiPos should be here tomorrow, now to wait for the weather to get halfway decent.

I really liked your mount. However, when I attempted to mount in this position, I found the canopy was narrow enough, it bends the antennae inside so they are no longer straight. Did you find this?

Nice wiring job, BRG. About your BX mounting tape, have you run it like that before, where the tape does not cover the full mounting face?

Thanks Bob!

No, I have not... but I'm gonna be swapping out that tape tonight because I am not crazy about it. I was doing the wiring and ran out of the grey 3M stuff (4011?) and the local hardware store only had Loc-Tite brand mounting tape.

Should I cover every conceivable part of the unit with tape? This is my first FBL heli.

My thought is that the entire base (mounting surface) of the unit should be covered. Maybe it doesn't matter. :

Skookum recommends only ~10mm included tape as a strip at each end with an air gap in center.

And the tape that comes with helicommand fbl's has a square cut out in the middle. I don't know enough about vibrations and damping them to understand what effect it has, but certainly interesting.

If someone is smart enough feel free to break down the science behind it for us

Air can't transmit vibrations.
By supporting the right areas you maintain stability but decrease vibration.

just a guess.

I've also found 4 small squares in the corners to work very well in reducing vibes.

OK. Thanks. I presume that in practice, provide the satellites aren't masked by carbon, that the range far exceeds our visibility for orientation.
