I started out as a thumber and turned into a pincher and thumber, Found that sometimes my thumbs would slip, so i decided to practice the pincher tec and its easyier to control my fleet ! Ialso highly recommend a flight platform if you have short fingers like me !

Thumbs. I started out flying planes pinching but when I moved to heli's I went to thumbs and now use thumbs on planes also. I over-control when I use the pinch grip.

I started with thumbs and almost dropped the transmitter once cause I was shaking so bad. One day when at the LHS I picked up a strap and worked on the sim a lot to relearn flying using the strap and pinching. I still fly thumb on the left stick when flying planes so it's kinda a hybrid.

Started flying planes in mid-80's and was comfortable pinching the sticks. Lately however, I noted that the thumbs on top offered freer movement in heli flying, so I have switched over.
The only drawback has been sore thumbs. But being a hobbyist, I located 1/4" grommets to the top of the sticks. Boy what a difference.

I have been flying for about 3 years now and I have always been a thumb-er. I have to say my thumbs have never been sore. I pinch when I fly heli, but thumb sometimes just depends on my mood I guess.

I learned pinching because it seemed logic, but I have problems applying right rudder, kind of moving the whole hand and loosing precision. Its partly because I use more left rudder so my hand position becomes comfortable there and right stick suffers... Now trying to solve that with thumbs only. At first lacking some precision but movements are much faster now.

I started out as an avid Xbox player, so I can't imagine any other way than Thumbs. I've seen people fly pinching tho. But then again, I am still working on forward flight too.

Pincher for sure. I started out a thumber on my mCX2 and quickly realized that I felt more in control of my mCPX with pinching. I guess I might feel differently when I get proficient with the new heli but by then it will probably be what I am use too and hard to go back to thumbing.

I used to have a very low thumb IQ. I would avoid things like Xbox and PS3 games that involved aiming with those awful stubby thumb sticks.

Now I fly pretty good thumbs only and I often check my "hands off hover" to see how well my heli is setup.

On the 550 I can get an easy 5 seconds hands off. With the 400 its more like 3 maybe 4.

Now if there was a way to mouse aim a heli I could turn pro tomorrow.

Reading comments and looking at gear listed I simply have to say I am impressed. I'm going to get the Wife to read this, she is just learning to fly.

Yay! Hope she joins and shares her progress with us. I'm learning too. Waiting for the wind to die down, tho, is killing me as i prefer practicing on the real thing better than the sim. Hope to have a video of the new skills soon.
